Let The Writers Write!
After a long day at the office (indoor or outdoor), many of us retreat to the confines of home and take trips via our lovely television screen. It would be nice if more of us read amazing books, as touted by Oprah and librarians alike, but let’s get real – television is one of our favorite indulgences. With that said, members of the Writers Guild of America are still in the picket lines today. Many TV viewers may not fully realize what an impact this has caused not only on writers, directors and actors, but also on the entire cast and crew of our TV shows that are affected. And I, Haydee Vicedo, am writing this and stating this as my opinion and not that of JFX Images/Online. As a working writer, I know how hard it is to do this job for a living. Not all members of WGA or SAG (Screen Actors Guild) are highly paid professionals. Many wait on you in various restaurants or bars, do your bookkeeping, or DJ at your local nightclub before they make it big (if ever). Writers are like cheap oil. An abundant cheap irreplaceable resource that runs Hollywood. I for one would’nt mind paying $4.00 a gallon at the pump for these guys.
