Angelina Gets Acting Nod

Congratulations to our girl Angelina Jolie for nabbing a Best Female Lead nomination from the Independent Spirit Awards. She earned it for her role as Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart. Though it wasn’t a blockbuster hit, the movie has earned Angie a lot of kudos for her portrayal of Daniel Pearl’s widow. Daniel Pearl was the Wall Street Journal journalist who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002. Angelina still loves doing big blockbuster movies, but she seems to thrive in making independent features - films that illustrate how much she’s grown the last few years. The Independent Spirit Awards will be taking place in Santa Monica next February.
