Jamie Lynn’s Engaged?

I guess a big congratulations goes out to Jamie Lynn Spears, whom People.com is reporting as newly engaged. Congrats, Jamie Lynn! According to People, Jamie’s been flashing around a very nice engagement ring around town (Kentwood, LA) and telling folks she’s engaged. Casey Aldridge, her soon to be baby’s daddy, is now her fiance. The two are expecting their baby in the summer, but there’s no news on a wedding date yet. One thing at a time, children. One thing at a time.

Congrats to Jamie Lynn. Life’s hard and full of bumps, but I hope that everything goes smoothly for her.

Children indeed.

They are both too young to marry even if they are about to have a child together.
Jamie, Lynne, and Bryan Spears should head to Louisiana right away and intervene. Is anybody watching out for Jamie Lynn’s interests? Has someone drawn up a pre-naptual? I understand Jamie Lynn has some dough of her own she’s made in the entertainment business.

Rehema I was actually (and this is a VERY scary thought here) going to say the same thing, but then I thought, What IS the right age to get married? Older people get it wrong, and so do middle aged folks. When I was in my late teens, I thought I knew it all. Should they not get married? I think it is at least worth the try. Maybe forgetting about trying to create marriages and accepting the new-age single mother epidemic as completely normal slowly self-destructs our society as a whole.
That, and romance novels. MH made me say that.

Stop it! I swear I’ll never read romance novels again!
What I don’t understand is why people are quick to propose marriage for 1st time single mothers but do little to stop divorces that include children. A double standard, maybe.
Britney is a single mother and still some people do not want Adnan to marry her. Jamie Lynn is pregnant and people want her to marry. Society is against the formation of some families but is supportive of others.
Doc, why do you put some much emphasis on “single motherhood epidemic”? Why not single fatherhood epidemic? You are a sexist, Doc! I told you once you do have stereotypes towards women and didn’t believe me.

My bad MH.
Rehema, you are correct. I do have stereotypes towards women, just as you do towards men.
We’ve been over and over this argument with each other now for weeks.
