21 Gets A Blackjack

Moviegoers wanted to watch folks beating Las Vegas, so they went in droves to make 21 the number one movie in the box office this weekend. The film earned an estimated $23 million. Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey star in the film. The film has received mixed reviews, but I guess that didn’t stop folks from checking it out. I didn’t check it out, but I’d definitely watch it on DVD. It’s based on a true story about a bunch of MIT students counting cards in Vegas. Sounds like a Friday night winner to me. The Dr. Seuss-inspired film Horton Hears a Who came in second. Ryan Phillippe’s new movie, Stop-Loss, came in eighth, which was a huge surprise to me. I thought there would be more fans clamoring to see that.

Kathie Lee Joins Today Show

NBC’s The Today Show just announced this morning that Kathie Lee Gifford is joining the team. Her first day will be on April 7 and she’ll be hosting the fourth hour of the show. No, there was not a fourth hour before, so this is all new. Wow, four hours. I thought three was enough. Kathie Lee’s last hosting gig was with Regis Philbin in Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. She had some controversy in the 1990s when she was accused of running sweatshops for her line of clothes under Wal-Mart. That controversy tarnished her career, I think, but she’s bounced back from it, obviously. I do remember how much she talked about her kids when she was on with Regis. She talked about them A LOT! Well, just in case you care, there’s a new person you can watch during your morning TV fun. Who knows, you might become a fan.

Heath Has Love Child?

I’m assuming this is just another piece of news that Heath Ledger’s extended family is talking about just to stay on the news. One of Heath Ledger’s estranged uncles (and the key word is estranged) just told an Aussie newspaper that Heath might have a love child. Heath reportedly dated a 25 year old woman when he was seventeen who got pregnant right after they separated. A couple of Heath’s uncles have come forward since his will was made public, which Heath’s dad Kim is in charge of. One of his uncles has told newspapers that Kim is not fit to manage Heath’s estate due to his mismanagement of their late grandfather’s estate. Regarding his supposed love child, I think the woman would’ve said something to him once he became famous. If she really wanted him in the child’s life, this wouldn’t be the first time we’d hear of it. I’m just saying. Let the man rest in peace, I say. I really doubt this news is true, but you can draw your own conclusions.

Nicolette’s Stroller Help

It’s not usually the “accessory”you’d find Nicolette Sheridan toting around, but she’d gladly do it for a friend. Our photogs found the hottie Desperate Housewives star helping a friend out with her baby stroller while shopping on Robertson Boulevard. Nicolette doesn’t have any kids and her character on the show is childless, so this is really good practice for her, just in case. Nicolette is currently engaged to singer Michael Bolton and they haven’t set a date yet, but it doesn’t seem to faze her. No need to rush getting married, Nic! Who says you can’t be engaged forever? No Brangelina Nuptials

Despite reports by Star Magazine that there was a secret wedding between super couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in New Orleans yesterday, sources close to the couple are already denying it. The couple, who have four children and are expecting another, have both been married before. Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston for five years and Angelina was married twice, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Even though I also don’t believe that they got married this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce tomorrow that they’ve been married since last June. Seems like something they can pull off. But, as reports are stating today, Brad and Angie didn’t get married.
