Tatum Gets Off Easy

Exactly one month ago, Tatum O’Neal was busted in New York City for trying to buy crack from a homeless dude and went to jail. Today she faced the Manhattan Criminal Court and the youngest Oscar winner plead guilty guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Prosecutors in turn dropped more serious charges, including drug possession. What did her slap on the wrist include? Well, the judge ordered Tatum to spend two half-days in a drug treatment program (why can’t they just make it one full day?) and pay a $95 fee. I’m not to sure what she would have received had she been convicted of drug possession, but I’m going to assume the fine and punishment are probably much stiffer. Tatum has until September 4 (when she’s due back in court) to make good on both conditions and then her case will be dismissed. Yeah, she definitely got off easy.
