Daddy Spears Remains In Control

As expected, the courts ruled this morning that Jamie Spears will continue his conservatorship over daughter Britney’s affairs until December 31. “Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the temporary letters to December 31, 2008,” L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz said after the hearing. Goetz also stated that Jamie’s conservatorship could be terminated earlier and a status hearing has been set in October 28 to review the situation. Jamie didn’t attend today’s hearing, but Britney’s brother Bryan, also a co-trustee of her estate, was present, along with their legal team. I’ll have more updates later as they arise.

Yeehawwww! Jessica Simpson is on the cover of Elle Magazine’s September issue and she’s looking cowgirl-icious. Jess, of course, is paying homage to her down-home side, as she makes way to re-start her music career in the country genre. In the magazine, she promotes her new album, Do You Know, and she talks about love - losing it, getting it and how much she loves it. On her year-long romance with John Mayer: “John believed in the Jessica Simpson that’s within,” she tells the magazine. “He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else.” And Jessica on her new love, Dallas quarterback Tony Romo: “Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with. I’m a girl that loves to be in love,” she says. “I love love!” And we love that you love love, Jess. Britney Spears is done with Sam Lutfi, according to her court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III. According to Ingham, Brit’s father will not seek an extension on the restraining order against the singer’s former pal/manager. “Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama ‘Sam’ Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future,” Ingham said in a statement to the Associated Press. Jamie Spears and Sam Lutfi’s lawyers were due in court today for a hearing regarding the restraining order, which has been in place since February. Fortunately, Sam and Britney have privately agreed that no hearing or order is necessary at this time. Britney and Jamie’s lawyers are still due in court today regarding the temporary conservatorship. I’ll post more updates regarding that as they come.

Wesley Snipes hasn’t exactly had the most stellar of years, but I’m sure his fans still try to remember the good (New Jack City, White Men Can’t Jump, and the first Blade) and let go of the bad (loaded weapon conviction, reckless driving conviction, and that tax evasion stuff). But this man’s a rider, so there’s no holding him back. Whatever that means. And it’s also his birthday, so let’s wish Mr. Snipes a happy 46th, shall we? Happy birthday, Wesley! Here are some great pictures of Jennifer Lopez leaving the Beverly Hills Hotel. Our photogs spotted the new mommy just leaving the luxury hotel without hubby Marc Anthony. He hasn’t been seen around town, so I’m going to assume he didn’t accompany Jennifer here. If anything, I’m sure he’s taking very good care of the twins at home. It was documented a few months ago that Jen and Marc’s nannies suddenly quit on them, but the couple have yet to re-hire anyone, preferring to do everything themselves. Well, if mommy’s leaving the Beverly Hills Hotel, then that means daddy’s on diaper duty. But Marc wouldn’t have it any other way, as he recently told a mag: “We share the parenting responsibilities. We are a team. I love being a dad and that is a big part of it. My family is strong and my foundations are good and they give me so much energy. So I have energy to look after them and energy to work. I am on top of the world right now.” Sounds good to us. More photos of Jen are available after the jump. Check them out.
