Depp Is The Mad Hatter! And Tonto! And Captain Jack Is Back!
IESB is reporting that Johnny Depp has signed on to play The Mad Hatter and Tonto for Disney’s upcoming movies. Johnny re-joins Tim Burton for his take on Alice in Wonderland and also Disney’s take on The Lone Ranger. Not only that, but it was also announced today at a Walt Disney Studios Showcase that we can also expect to see another Pirate of Caribbean movie in the near future. According to the report, Johnny was dressed in full Captain Jack Sparrow gear. Check out IESB for the entire article.
Wanna see my lame attempt at photoshopping the Mad Hatter’s hat on Johnny? Click for it and please don’t make fun of my photoshop skills. I am pretty good at it, just didn’t have time to get into it too deep. Someone wanna try their hand at Johnny as Tonto, be my guest!

I hate to be a wet blanket…But wasn’t Tonto a Native American person?
Okay, to be fair, I just Wiki’d it and it tells me, “Depp has German, Gypsy (mostly from a great-grandmother), Cherokee and Irish ancestry.”
So I guess I won’t be writing Disney any letters…this time.

The last time I was in L.A., I took my boyfriend with me, who was Ojibway. We stayed in Beverly Hills at a cute little boutique hotel. Everyone kept asking him, “Do you speak English?” I guess they thought he my gardener or something. After a while he just played along.
It was a bizarre four days.

Wes Studi would have been my first choice. Tonto’s persona is so ingrained in us, what more can he bring to it without throwing out the entire book on what we know as Tonto? I’m sure it’ll do well regardless.

Yup, Wes Studi would be good. Adam’s maybe a bit too young and too Northern looking (or is that too good looking?) Ha ha.
Have you seen HBO’s Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee? So good!
Mr. Depp will do fine regardless. I can always use more JD in my life.
