JFX Documentary To Screen In Palm Springs
Back in 2006, a film crew followed JFX photographers for six months and now that footage will be screened in a the Documentary titled ‘Giving It Up‘ at the Palm Spring Film Festival. There will be two screening held next week and we’ll be attending the first screening this Monday, January 12, 2008, along with the director Frank Ruy. If you’re in the area, be sure to swing by to check out the documentary or just say hi. I’m sure we’ll be hitting up a couple of the local watering holes afterwards! I’ll have the trailer up soon and I’ll keep you posted on future screenings. Check out below for information on the screening or check out the official website for advanced tickets.

How did you come to hook up with the director, Frank Ruy? Can you tell us a bit more about him?

Frank pursued the guys for quite a while, hearing stories of this pap agency founded by former gang members. So after many meetings, dinners, beers and more beer, the guys finally agreed to let him in to the inner circle.

i’m sure it’s different. it can get picked up for wide release, or picked up for straight to dvd release or nothing. we’d all like to see it do well and available at your local art house for screening.

It’ll be interesting to see, when the WEG suit is finally over and done with, just what comes out of it in terms of where the alleged $60 million (or so) disappeared to in the course of a year.
I haven’t seen any other media outlets report on the details of that suit – or mention the $17 million audit against Jive that Adam Streisand brought up this time last year.

If not delicious scandal how about opinion? So X shows six minutes of their helicopter flying over what might be Brit’s new house.
They show a white van moving slowly down the street, with them. They show three vehicles and a couple of guys outside their cars, including the white van, holding their arms up to the chopper at the end. Was this a practice shoot? A chopper must be expensive and X has already proved they can shoot from choppers.
What’s the message? Is it a threat? We can stir some scandal.

I was thinking that if Allie was an assistant then maybe Sam was too? That might explain why he knew doormen, bouncers.
Based on footage of Alli, it seems the assistant goes out first, gets the car or the driver, or sees to getting in to places.
And they would most often be out of camera shots or shots that we would see.
Who cares? It’s just more of the story.

I think Sam was like a go-to guy. He could get drugs, he knew (knows) alot of people, whatever you wanted, he probably knew someone.

Yes, but they went with the *nice* version of the story. From what I understand, Ma heard about the goings-on during the shoot, and asked them to “play nice” in return for the rights to Jamie Lynn’s first baby photos.
OK! probably could’ve run a story that was a LOT worse…They likely had some pretty bad photos (e.g. of the chicken grease on the dress) that they could’ve run, but didn’t??

she was naked in the womanizer vid…i don’t think sexy dances moves would be a big deal compared to the vid. she’s not ready, that’s why her dancing was boring.

i didn’t see much enjoyment at any of the shows. she was blah walking around the stage. the few things she did do where not impressive, exciting, interesting or ….. whatever.
if her tour is anything like her recent performances i feel sorry for the audience. if fans just want to be in her presence, then fine, but i wouldn’t waste my money. i would never pay money, or go for free for that matter, to see any one lip sync. i know a lot of people do it, but it’s not the kinda show i wanna see/hear. full on dancing for 2 hours and singing at the same time is a difficult task, hence the lip sync. but she wasn’t even really dancing, so why not sing. i guess the bands i see don’t do a lot of dancing, if any, so that’s one reason i haven’t come across it. i like bands that write most if not all of their own music, sing live and put on a kick ass show.

Was he somehow convinced (outside of threats) that this was the best for her? It hard to see i cooperate or believe that way.
I also says I am right about this, in context to putting A at a 50 foot parameter, ‘So is it about image? Is it about the album? No one seems to answer but a single, sexually available celeb would sell better than one with a paparazzo boyfriend?’

I thought that, too – that the dancing had actually gotten WORSE between the practice footage and the actual performances.
And I also noticed that she interacted with the audience and kind of “lit up” a few times when dancing specifically for them. It made me think she either, a) didn’t like performing on a stage just for the cameras, or b) was purposely performing with a “dead” look to send a message, but was still trying to let her fans know she appreciated them.

AM, That makes sense.
Alli is already part of the family (kinda), brags to Sam about it when she sees him out at clubs or parties (or doing whatever they do together), and then he tries to worm his way in once Alli and B start hanging together when B starts hitting the club scene after her divorce.
Maybe Sam got his numbers from Alli? For all we know, Alli could’ve been MUCH closer to the family prior to Dec ‘06 than Ma is letting on.
Sands sounds like he was hired by Kaplan to do media relations…No secrets there, is there?

I’ve always wondered how IH got away with supposedly following her for 18 months (is that right?) without the other paps catching on.
I’m wondering if he’s less afraid of exposing the Spears as he is exposing the paps. Perhaps he’s…re-thought…whether the book would advance his career or not? ok, let’s see how we have done in a year of learning about the tabloid world. Based on the transcript (MH who wasn’t it that said Adnan was a sponge on the IH board? Maybe it wasn’t sponge but it wasn’t very nice — was IH the speaker?) Ian has inside information.
So why doesn’t he write the story and post it to his blog?
I mean if he says he can’t comment on the book due to his contract, but he comments as he did in the transcript, then doesn’t he have a story? One that could help TA? Or would it hurt TA? Would it help Britney?

Anything about Jamie, Adnan, and Britney’s sex life is juicy to tabloids. Remember the Pa bans Britney from having sex for six months stories? I wonder where those ones came from?
Do you get my thinking though? IH and others have this juicy tidbit about Pa badmouthing Adnan etc. Sam tried to do that do and Britney was susceptible if held in isolation, sleep deprived and drugged.
Sam wanted her to believe that Adnan was gay. I guess that’s the best he could come up with, “He doesn’t love you. He’s using you. He’s gay.”

Ugh, a quick Google search of IH and Brit tells me his book is NOT going to help make her look any better.
It’s honestly been so long since all of this stuff took place that my mind is just turning to Jell-o. It’s all starting to lump together into one congealed blob of information. The real facts, the gossip and my own theories are all starting to mix and it’s…not pretty. Or pretty boring. One or the other.

He said this was going to be the first YouTube compatible book. And my comments apply to THAT. Not so much the book, but the footage to accompany the book.

A clarification on my clarification…LOL!
We’ve seen, after watching what happened to A, how the media/paps can be used to damage a person’s credibility, etc.
If I was IH, I may be concerned with that.

MH, I do often think about you and the comment you made .. many months ago, to keep the emotion out of it.
Brit said in FTR that she might write a book but I didn’t feel that she would. It seemed she was just putting it out there.
As for when the book was first delayed, I don’t remember Ian saying that it was delayed, only that the story about his book had been leaked?
What bothered me about the leak was that it was close to one of the c-ship court hearings where Britney might have been freed.
What I remember around one of those critical dates were rumors that Britney had had sex at 14 according to Lynne’s book. There was a sex tape out there with A. and that B had tried to kill herself (3 times the first tabloid cycle then was it 6 during the next tabloid cycle?)
MH, did I miss something? Should I go back and review interviews he did after the leak?

Believe me when I say the Spears family have known Alli for quite awhile. There were pics of Alli, Britney, and Laura Lynn soon after her break-up with Justin…when was that 2002?? Forgot the date. This is why I believe NOTHING that comes out of Ma Spears mouth…NOTHING. To me she says whatever will make herself look best. Just my opinion.

I got the impression his book and accompanying YouTube videos were created from the viewpoint of an undercover pap. During those 18 months, her family had very little contact with her. Her world appeared to revolve around Sam and her relationship with the paps. So I had gotten the impression that it was going to be an expose on the pap world as much as anything.
As far as who would publish it…
Who would watch a doc on a bunch of “gangbanger” paparazzi who traded their Nines for Nikons? There’s an interest in the pap world. The boys at JFX may be entertaining, but there’s also a very seedy side to it. Think of the relationship of Sam and X, of selling insider information, of “set-up” photo ops, of fist-fights between photogs who are battling to get the shot, etc.
If that’s what his book is about, I’ll be the first in line to read it.

I’ve been two times that I recollect. I wasn’t there when MH was.
One problem with his format is “they” are spilling and gossiping in the beginning, rather than allowing we the public to interview. We do get a chance though.
I was lucky this time to have two of us asking questions about A, B and J.
We can generate interest, learn a few things, and not let what is good about Adnan fade. Something like that. I hate that the tabloids have been winning and winning just like K-Fed and the court. Am I being fair?
Neither A nor B nor even JFX can or will really talk but we can and besides we’ve been bored or is it cranked and screwed?
Ian doesn’t know everything Steel. He had little knowledge or interest re WEG. I spilled what I could because he asked. He is interested in the continuing story overall I believe. I would hope so given the tedium in writing a book.
p.s. yes Steel, of course he will show the world of the paps but they are not the major vultures Ian planned to expose. They are just a part of it.

AM, It’s too late to stop the damage that was done by Jane and Puny (if it was done at all). It’s three boards back. Nothing we can do.
I’m interested because it helps me to understand how we got to the present day. It’s an intriguing story. But that’s all.
What’s going on in the present is much more interesting. A tour, with someone who appears to be “doing it by the numbers.” I can’t wait to see how THIS is all gonna pan out.

Nothing new from Florida.
The New Mexican food G and I had was yum and the owners were nice. Little places close in downtown Phoenix after 2 or 2:30, and they let us stay until almost 3. I didn’t know the time until we got back in the Jeep. G couldn’t join me in a Corona due to her doing the marathon.
I also apologized for swearing but that’s me – swearing. G was cool about it. It’s not like she hasn’t heard those words before.

Gigi and I are both on myspace and put up real pictures so yes we looked the same but I couldn’t have picked her out on the street. I just knew she’d be coming down the elevator. She recognized me before I recognized her. I was expecting someone to walk out alone (because we had discussed inviting her friends and they had said no) but she came out with friends.
I couldn’t get out of calling her GG though which people do call her so it wasn’t a problem. It was funny bringing up “Steel” in context to Corona, or Doc, small etc. To hear your names alive and spoken … like JFX does I guess. What else are they going to call us?

I’ve often thought how strange it would be to meet each other in real life. Some of us come across as “real people,” and other seem like “characters” (or a combination of both), so it would be interesting to see what we’re all like outside of JFX.
I remember the first time someone called me “Steel” on here, I couldn’t figure out who they were talking to! I had picked the name at random, after trying to come up with a name that was Britney related. I saw that one of Brit’s favourite movies was “Steel Magnolias,” and I liked that movie, too, so I just went with it on a whim. If I’d known I’d end up being called “Steel,” I don’t know if I would’ve went with it! LOL

it was something about needing to change the ending now that things have changed. there was more to it that i don’t remember, but it was a different tune than he’s singing now, i think.
but when he went on tv and talked about the book things had already changed, so not sure what his motives are. when he explained it it sounded good. waiting for her book is a new reason.
there’s something about him i just don’t trust….and at other times he seems like a good guy. but he runs his head up people asses alot…praise. that gets on my nerves after the millionth time.

Thanks, MH. Let me know if you come to Phoenix and we can rendezvous for that off runny egg. First time I saw it I thought it was someone else’s order. It’s the New Mexican red chili sauce and the thick corn tortilla and perfectly done chicken that makes the dish.
Steel. From first hand experience the oddity of moving to a face to face meeting is “real time observation.” I met my husband before there were graphics and we decided not to talk about what we looked like. It began as a friendship, coffee breaks for each other if you will.
On the Internet you can’t know how someone will treat a waiter or how they tip. You don’t know if they will offer you the best piece of toast or hoard it.
One thing not missing face to face is tone in communication.
Meeting Gigi was easier than when I met my husband. I knew what she looked like. With my then future husband, I couldn’t match him to the “character” that I knew. It was like I kept looking behind his eyes or something until finally, “Oh. There you are.”

So MH, did you break out the crampons? oh. I guess you only need those for ice? Anytime you want to talk about mountain climbers I am game. Alison Hargreaves remains a hero of mine that is sort of related to this story, in her own way.
Via some biographers, she thought she had to climb K-2, for her children and her family (um yeah and her not so nice nor self-sufficient husband).

I didn’t realize until today that Navarre was the one to media spin negative allegations of Adnan that are still repeated by some. Navarre’s words:

I think the complexity is what’s overwhelming. Theres no guarantee to what you think might be important. A fit in the puzzle sort of speak but who to say. Even with this, an aggressive dog would’nt touch this bone covered with this flavor. Every angle is just way tainted. It’s like “CHOP SUEY”.
No one’s really looking back. That job is for those who are investigating the obvious.
This started as just a fascinating story to follow. The more and more complex the more interesting it got. The shadow players are the most without a doubt. The interest has made me a bit of an ameature investigative reporter I guess. Specially with easy access to certain things. Then like the X-Files the lone gunmen drops off a manila folder. Should have never opened it. Now there are more questions. that’s where it’s at. Lot’s of “WHAT IF”…
You know at the end of the day, it’s all about tomorrow. The show must go on as they say. Why not? Everything is looking well.
The only frustrating thing is that things were actually falling in it’s places on it’s own. The timing of certain stories had crossed this one. It was amazing. Maybe that where all this zealousness came from. A stumble of two left foot.

The comments section contained some not-to-nice words about Reeg for doing that…I do hope that whoever was posting the comments realizes that Reeg can use the software to view their IP addresses…!

There are a couple of things about these claims that I find strange…
1/ How would Brit know anything had been stolen if she was still in the hospital (unless the theft occurred prior to her going in the hospital)?
2/ Brit wasn’t making the claims directly. Jamie was.
3/ Who was the “source” on the OK! Magazine article?

4/ Lutfi has still yet to be charged with a crime. Any crime. Why?
I guess I had just ASSumed that the allegations weren’t exactly true, and that it was just an additional method used to make Lutfi appear even WORSE. (As if he needed to look any worse!)

Follow the link in the article that has the court document. It’s only a few pages. It reads a little different than the article. aw, Britney “..told her dad that there was some property of hers that Sam had wrongfully taken,” On February 2nd according to the supplemental Declaration of Jamie Spears that was executed Feb. 4th.

What I’m trying to say is that, just like Ma, Pa seems to have included a lot of random details in his declaration. Maybe it’s because I’m in another country, but these declarations…are unlike any legal documents that I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think she recognized the c-ship. She had “new lawyers” to help her with stuff. I am thinking if she and Daddy had walked out together, she might have bolted off to her attorney, Adam Streisand?
Also, the climate of the hospital had changed. Sam was no longer allowed in. Actually, no one was as the staff began to realize something was up. Afterall, you had Lynne trying to convince people of Sam’s bad character, and Sam trying to uphold that the parents were whatever.
Things had not gone according to plan. Shoot. Earlier today I found an article that talked about a standard hearing (informal and in the patient’s hospital) after 72 hours (on a hold). A legal rep takes on a med rep to determine whether the hold is justified.
If that is true, rather than some “change in shift” doctor had let her out … I don’t think Sam and his planners believed that Jamie or Lynne could get c-ship.

Please correct me on whether Britney said she wanted her dad to help her get her children. That is not what I read. She said, no, no and no that she had fired her custody lawyers and had new lawyers who would help “with my stuff.”
As for the earlier stuff about ice cream it sounds girl like and manipulative. She appealed to his fatherly weaknesses maybe so she could get out. Afterall, she thought he was the one keeping her there but the hospital order showed it was the doctor? Actually, what we know based on his testimony is that a nurse brought the order in but Britney wouldn’t read it.

I am reading the declaration the same way as well.
First, it sounds like B is asking for information on how she ended up in the hospital in the first place. She appears to be accusing her father of arranging it.
B also does NOT appear to ask for assistance with her children. She does not appear to be stating that she has fired her custody lawyers, either. (Though the wording is very ambiguous.) She appears to be stating that she has already fired a set of lawyers and hired a new lawyer for “stuff” (which could be property, finances, who knows what).
If anything, B is asking only for assistance with helping to get her things back. She appears to say the items were “wrongly taken,” but does not come out and say they were “stolen.”
Did Sam not live at her house for a certain period of time? Is it possible he was moving out, and took some of her things with him? (Which could be the “move” that F & F refer to in their video?)

The article merely paraphrases the declaration, in the order the declaration was written. Just like Ma’s declaration, this one has also been written very carefully…almost as if it’s a press release. The reporter at People has (as any lazy journalist would do) merely printed the “press release” out, almost word for word, and passed it off as “breaking news.”
How many legal documents have you ever read actually sound like they’ve been ripped from the pages of People Magazine? Most legal documents I’ve ever read are full of “legalese” and are written as to provide a clear and concise account of the “evidence.”
But not here. Strange.

Here’s another detail on Silva/Barresi. It was a videotaped interview (so like Barresi!). Was he on the hunt for dirt on Adnan? Or, was he doing a “story” (BS!)on lives of the paparazzi?

Barresi had a specialty for getting people as “witnesses” on tape (e.g. people who said things about Eddie Murphy and homosexuality), going to the celebrity’s attorney as “help” and then going back to get people to recant their testimony (in Murphy’s case mistaken identity, someone who looked like Murphy). I believe all but 1 of 12 did recant. The last died an odd death – he/she was locked out of their 5th floor apartment, in their lingerie (?) and “fell off” the roof of the apartment building. The details are odd. See a towel and nail scrapes on the building.
Murphy was suspect but was cleared. We were sent to Pellicano as an example. Now emerges Paul Barresi with a direct tie to Adnan Ghalib. Would you agree we have enough of a direct tie here?
Look at Barresi’s modus operandi and he begins to sound similar to Sam. Private I. Homosexual pornography ties. Just trying to help you, when he’s the one who set you up. Someone with direct access to media outlets.

Are there any other declarations involving the C-Ship case that available to view on-line?
It’s interesting to note the difference in writing styles between your average news article and the two declarations we’ve seen so far.
The average traditional news article is writing in the “inverted triangle” style – with the 5 w’s (who, what, when, where, why) in the first two or three paragraphs. The article is then usually written with the “most important” information following the 5 w’s, and the “least important” information at the tail end. This is so an editor, at any newspaper the story is run in, can lop off the end paragraphs to make the story “fit” into the space available in the newspaper.
However, both declarations are written in the reverse of this – the most important information comes at the very end.
Try reading those two declarations from end to beginning, and ask yourself how much of that information actually made it into the media.

Steel. I’m not sure what you mean by we have the media covered. It isn’t for me. We’ve got some of the more common outlets used to purvey both positive and negative information. Just look at whether Sam was being investigated or not and use the words “media war” in your search.
Then there is Berrasi who wants to make money and is likely connected to Sam. I’m not sure if this is relevant but about that plain old envelope left on MT’s doorstep, “Whom ever wanted to stay in the shadow have done a good job doing what they did. Maybe they should have left the envelope at the L.A. Times. Maybe they wanted me to have my shredder at it.”
As for pyramid style writing you’re looking at People.com magazine who is reporting on testimony from Jamie. Alison Silva was a pond. He must have been flattered to have been interviewed. I doubt he knew Berassi’s history or character. Berassi called him and told him what? Offered to pay him what? Enough for Silva to put down his camera and be interviewed on tape.
It would be interesting to interview Silva about that interview. What did he think the purpose of it was? What was he led to believe? Was he surprised to see the way his voice was used?
With Berassi in the picture things get more serious and dangerous than before.

No, I’m commenting on journalism in general. The pyramid diagram might be the first thing they teach you in the class you’re about to take. It was one of the first things I was taught in mine.
The People story deviates from the pyramid style, because it more or less repeats back what was stated in the press release, er, I mean, the declaration. (Sorry…That’s me being snarky.) Lazy reporters have been known to re-print press releases almost word for word, without doing any of their own “investigating.” This appears to be what has happened with the People story.

I didn’t get the impression that he was videotaping Silva, but just questioning him. Barresi then reviewed tapes of A and B together, and gave his opinion (I actually was left with the same impression at the time…That A was setting up shots and B was in on it…But then again, I wasn’t calling up the NY Post to offer my opinion on it, either.)
Am I right to read from that article that Silva worked for X, and was possibly referring to Felipe in the article (re, B texting him to apologize for the arrest)?
If so, that tells me Barresi was interviewing members of the competition about the situation. Interesting indeed.

I disagree Steel on Britnan. Had they have received the c-ship themselves I’m confident they would have axed A.
However, outside of Adam Streisand maybe, I see them as sinister people. Howard watched, aided, abetted. He knew what was going on with spending. He knew, I believe, about Johnny Wright (it occurs to me that not paying him was an attempt to alienate Britney from Johnny — according to what small posted from an album insert, the relationship was close enough that Britney wanted to babysit for him?)
I had just been thinking about the money but between the OK magazine article, the interview with Johnny, and what I missed in terms of divide and conquer… Johnny seems to have been one that cared and one that had enjoyed a good relationship with Britney.
She let him go, that is true but maybe she didn’t need him anymore. Who is to say the parting wasn’t amicable?

Well, Jordan is just very outspoken on things. He’s very clearly anti-Jamie and anti-management (Larry), and has in the past been pro-Sam, pro-Alli. Not that long ago he was posting photos of Brit that were taken inside her home at the Summit during the “Lutfi era.” I think I remember talking with the group here not that long ago about how the photos had to have been taken either by Sam or Chad Hardcastle (and now that I think about, possibly by paps from X).
I just thought it was odd that you’d quote Jordan as a “source,” when he’s so opinionated and so clearly biased. Now that you’re name is officially connected back to JFX, it’s as if everything you say now represents them. So I just wanted to be sure what I was reading.
I was just confused, is all. Better to ask questions than to not know.

I sometimes think Jordan’s views on the conservatorship have little to do with Brit’s well-being, and everything to do with having an axe to grind against Jamie. While I’m glad that he’s speaking out, he does tend to come across as a bit…snivelly. Like he’s taking a bit too much glee from the whole situation. And his prior relationship with Sam is questionable, to say the least. So…
AM, I’m just trying to be clear on what your and JFX’s views are. We tend to tear apart articles that appear on every other site. If you’re going to be a “published author,” you better be prepared to defend your views. Because they don’t just represent YOU anymore. They represent Sergio and Arnold and the whole JFX crew.

Remember when Linda first started writing? Geez, the poor girl couldn’t do ANYTHING right. It seemed like everyone tore into her for something in every article she posted. And wasn’t it Elizabeth (?) who lasted all of a day before packing it in?
When I first started posting here, I made the leap because I liked the tone of the articles. They weren’t gossipy and over-opinionated and cheap, the way some of the other sites were.
And the articles here DO get re-posted on other blogs, so it’s important the content is accurate or else it looks bad on JFX. I remember one time one of the new girls (can’t remember who) posted a Britney article with two glaring mistakes, and that article got re-posted everywhere…and I was slinking down in my seat, because everyone on the Internet seemed to be talking about it. And I was like, “Yeah, *I* post there.”
And then…Uhhh…

There was logout code that was unsupported since our upgrade to the new blog backend server software. Just cause I know someone will ask. Which should also fix the login issues some of you were having.

Well written articles, or back to no gossip at all, the way it was before. I lashed out at AM, but I think my beef was really with gossip blogs in general. Everything is copy and paste. Everything is repeated and recycled over and over between blogs, and the factual quality is SO low.

While I agree with Steel, I disagree in the idea of unique content. There is no such thing as unique content. What happens happens. The photo perspectives can vary, but it is what it is. I would say the most important thing is to BE FIRST to report it. I don’t want to read about something on Monday morning that I read about all day on Sunday and for the first time on Saturday night, when the event occurred. The reason why divas flock to Jordan is because they know he usually has some of the alleged news FIRST.
