Katie Makes An Indie

We’ve all heard the rumor about Katie Holmes signing on for the job of Mrs. Tom Cruise so he could make her a big movie star like his ex, Nicole Kidman. If it’s true, Katie’s certainly not getting what she bargained for. Since their marriage, Holmes has bailed on a blockbuster (”Batman Returns”), made a film that bombed (”Mad Money”), had a small part on a series that got cancelled (”Eli Stone”) and done a short stint on Broadway in “All My Sons.”

So will the new year find her taking her stardom to a new level? Nope. The Press Association reports that Mrs. Cruise is signed to “star” in “The Extra Man,” an independent comedy film set in New York which will co-star Kevin Kline, John C. Reilly and Paul Dano. The film will begin shooting next month in NYC.

So what’s next? A “Dawson’s Creek” reunion show?
