Are JoBros Too Pure?

Teen stars can’t win. If they do anything to indicate they’re less than 100% pure, they get ragged about it. If they do live up to their squeaky clean images, they still get ragged about it.

We’ve seen a year of nonstop abuse directed at Miley Cyrus since she dared to show a few inches of her back in Vanity Fair. Recently the Jonas Brothers are catching flak for insisting they still deserve to wear those purity rings. As pointed out in today’s Washington Times, the Bros seem to be suffering from a backlash.

At the MTV Video Music Awards,  host Russell Brand made fun of the band’s purity rings, quipping “I’d take it a little more seriously if they’d wear it on their genitals.” Last week’s “South Park” spoofed the inconsistency of the act’s sexually related marketing with their non-sexual public image. 

The Jonas Brothers seem to be trying to avoid talking about their rings ‘n things so much lately—and who could blame them? They have to grow up some time. The question is—will their fans let them?
