Adnan Gives Up His Gun

40209ag5-3162

Adnan Ghalib may be able to keep his freedom, but he had to give up his firearm.

TMZ reports that in February, Britney Spears’ former BF sold his Hi-Point C-9 to a licensed gun dealer, supposedly to satisfy the terms of the restraining order placed against him by the conservatorship running the pop star’s life. The restraining order has since been extended for three years.

Ghalib appeared in court today to get a continuance of the felony case against him, which alleges he  tried to run down a process server with his car. The court officer was attempting to serve the papers for the restraining order.

Adnan hasn’t been convicted of anything, and none of the charges pending against him involve use of a firearm. Can they really force a person to give up his guns just because another party files a restraining order against him?

I have no idea why he had to do this if it is true. In some ways I can see why they would want this and in other ways I dont. If I had a RO against someone that had threatened me then yes I would want their guns gone but he has not threatened her. He would not use that against her I dont think.

That’s why the RO is crap! He did not threaten to assault her or cause her harm in any way so there should be no restraining order…is Avia Bobb the one who granted the restraining order or is that a different Judge?

Maybe since Cali is a pretty liberal state, it is just kind of a “blanket” requirement for those charged with these types of crime. Hell, I think even in Texas if you have an RO against you, you have to give up your gun. But, this RO would never have been enforced in Texas. :-)
