Plans Finalized For Jackson Memorial

After more than a week of rumors and changes of venue, the details of Michael Jackson’s memorial service were revealed at a press conference this morning.

As previously reported, the memorial will take place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, starting at 10 am Tuesday morning. While some sources had claimed yesterday that tickets would be sold for $25 each, the press release sent out to the media last night stated, “There will be 11,000 tickets distributed to the general public. All tickets will be free of charge.”

Today, an additional 6,500 tickets were made available for the Nokia Theatre, across the street from the Staples Center at L.A. Live. The tickets will be awarded by a lottery, which closes tomorrow (Saturday). Fans may register for a chance to win tickets at the site for the Staples Center. All streets around the Staples Center will be blocked off to those without tickets. 

The service is expected to be broadcast on television stations around the world and streamed live on the internet. Michael Jackson is gone, but his final show is sure to be a thriller.
