America Ferrera, Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia stepped up to the plate at Beverly Hills Park for the film “Family Wedding,” now shooting on location in Beverly Hills, CA. Whitaker and Mencia play two fathers who must set aside their feud when the daughter of one becomes engaged to the son of the other.

“Ugly Betty” has been on the air for three seasons now, and for that entire time, Betty Suarez, played by America Ferrera,  has sported a mouthful of shiny metal. Aren’t her teeth straight yet?

Series creator Silvio Horta spilled the beans to EW on what viewers can expect from upcoming eps of “Betty”—including the future of her smile. “Her braces will be off by the end of next season. Next year, there’s going to be a progression in her look overall. It’ll still be Betty, but you’ll see some growth in that direction.”

This certainly sounds like a step in the right direction. Given how long Betty’s been working for Mode, she must have developed some fashion sense by now.

The life of Betty Suarez is already complicated enough, with Meade Publishing broke, her dad falling in love with his nurse and her new BF Matt in therapy for sex addiction, but now things are going to get really interesting.

EW reveals that Betty’s old flame Henry Grubstick, played by Christopher Gorham, will be back in NYC for the two-hour season finale of “Ugly Betty” airing May 21. Betty (played by America Ferrera, pictured) runs into Henry and his new GF Chloe, and show eator Silvio Horta tells, “As Henry and Betty reconnect, it could potentially threaten her relationship with Matt.”

Will Gorham return in the fall? What about his role on the CBS thriller “Harper’s Island?” Since the whole cast is being killed off one by one, the actor could definitely have some time on his hands by then.

Wake up, Betty! You’re coming back next season! Fans of the ABC TV series “Ugly Betty” starring America Ferrera were understandably upset over the net’s decision to bench the show for a Thursday night sitcom block.

But now good news comes from EW that ABC is very close to renewing “Ugly Betty” for another season. Also likely to get early pickups are  ”Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” and “The Bachelor.”

As a major “Betty” junkie, I’m hoping the hiatus doesn’t cause the show to lose momentum. I mean, hasn’t Christina been pregnant with Wilhelmina’s surrogate spawn for something like 18 months now? 

Maybe not yet, but prospects aren’t looking pretty for the show starring award-winner America Ferrera. ABC has announced a new schedule for Thursday night and “Betty” will be taking a hiatus until after May sweeps. Taking the 8 p.m. slot starting in march will be new series ”In the Motherhood” and the returning “Samantha Who?”

An ABC spokesperson told E! News, “The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies, That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats.”

What are they, nuts? Stupid is more like it. It’s idiotic decisions like this that have caused network TV ratings to fall into the sewer and wallow there for the last several years. The networks have very few shows worth watching, and the ones they have are all on at the same time. 

“Betty” has been one of my favorite shows since it debuted and I’ve watched every episode at least once. Unfortunately, it’s opposite another one of my favorite shows, “My Name is Earl.” So I’ve been watching “Betty” and catching “Earl” later on Hulu. Now Fox has moved another favorite of mine, “Bones,” into that same slot. So now I’m watching one hour of network TV and 90 minutes on the ‘net when I’d be watching 2 1/2 hours of tube time if my favorite shows were on in different slots.

Network execs—get a clue. If we aren’t watching your shows, msybe it’s because you’re incompetent and should be replaced.

Looks like LiLo and Betty aren’t done hanging out with each other. Eonline.com is reporting that Lindsay Lohan will be reprising her role as Betty’s high school nemesis in Ugly Betty next season. America Ferrera and company recently moved their production from Los Angeles to New York City and Lindsay is one of the first celeb visitors at the show’s new home. Linds finished filming Labor Pains last week here in Los Angeles. By Friday she was in NYC with gal pal Samantha Ronson. They spent the weekend hanging out at the Hamptons and, as E! reports, Lindsay is said to have worked at the Betty set today. She’ll be filming the next couple of days and I’m sure she and Sam will be doing some nighttime activities in the Big Apple while they’re there. Good times! I’m really happy for Lindsay and Sam, and it’s good to see the young starlet getting her acting groove back, too.

Update: That was fast. I just posted this and I already got confirmation that this is not true. Usmagazine.com is reporting that America’s reps are denying the engagement news. Hollywood’s wedding and baby crazy, I tell ya, but America’s not (yet).

I’m sure her wedding dress is going to be way prettier than this get-up. The blog world is reporting today that Ugly Betty star America Ferrera is engaged. I thought I heard this news about a year ago, but I guess I misinterpreted the story then. America’s been dating Ryan Piers Williams, a budding filmmaker whom I believe she met while studying at USC. America is said to be sporting her engagement ring in between takes on the Ugly Betty set. The actress or her reps have yet to confirm the engagement, but I’ll wish her a big congrats anyway.

Naomi Campbell wasn’t the only one getting batting practice yesterday. Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was also enjoying some time, um, using her cell phone on the field. I have some pics of the young actress filming her hit show yesterday. America has the best TV job in the world because when fans see her in person, she will always look better than her TV character. America is set to start filming An Invisible Sign Of My Own, a coming-of-age drama about a loner who turns to math for salvation after her father becomes ill. Sound heavy. The role is definitely a far cry from her current TV persona, but I’m sure she’ll hit it out of the ballpark. Get it? Ball…never mind. I was driving by USC yesterday, annoyed at the massive traffic preventing me from getting to my destination, and I wondered what the heck was causing all the congestion. I then saw numerous black sedans pulling in to the Shrine Auditorium and realized that it was the NAACP Image Awards. I became a little bit more patient. The awards show gathered a slew of celebrities last night, including America Ferrera, who won Best Actress in a comedy for her role in Ugly Betty. She looked gorgeous in her blue gown, didn’t she? Also at hand were Janet Jackson (also a winner), Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, and many other celebs.
