Update: Anne’s Ex Arrested

Update: Bails’ been set for $21 million for Rafaello. Dude, $21 million! He needs that much money just to get out of the slammer. If he comes up with the moolah, he will be required to do house arrest. Just in the nick of time, Anne. Just in the nick of time. Thank goodness you got out of that relationship!
She definitely got out of the relationship on time. Usmagazine.com is reporting (via Associated Press) that Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend, businessman Rafaello Follieri, has been arrested on charges of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering. Oh, my. Rafello is accused of falsely telling an investor that he had been appointed as the chief financial officer of the Vatican so he could obtain properties of the Catholic church in the U.S. at a discount to fair market value. Yes, that would definitely get you arrested. Anne reportedly broke up with Rafaello because she didn’t want his legal woes to hurt her career. Um, I think she broke up with him because she realized that he might be…gasp…a liar. It all boils down to that, right? He lied. If he can lie about being the CFO for the Vatican (the Vatican!), then I’m sure she realized that he can probably lie to her. Thank your lucky stars for single-dom, Anne, and keep your head up!

You have to give it up to Anne Hathaway. Not only is she dealing with a break-up, but she has to do all these rounds of press for her new movie, Get Smart. Breaking up with someone is hard enough, but breaking up with someone in the public eye is even tougher. And then, imagine having to deal with a broken heart while you’re doing press…tons of press for your new movie. Well, that’s what our Anne is dealing with these days. I’ve seen her in a couple of TV appearances and she’s all smiles. She’s all smiles because she’s a tough chick and she’s very professional. I like that. Kudos, Anne, and hang in there. You’ll be enjoying single life soon enough.
Headed To Splitsville?

Is the Princess Diary finally getting rid of her Prince Charming? Well, according to the UK’s Daily Mail, Anne Hathaway has split up with long-time beau, Raffaello Follieri. As you will remember, Raffaello’s been linked to a couple of scandals in the last few months. There was the deal with him giving a colleague a bounced check (for $215,000) and then just last week there were stories out claiming he might have done some shady dealings connected to his charity. Lame, right? Well, the final straw, according to the Mail’s source, are rumors Anne heard of Raffaello flirting with different women while she’s filming. Man, this guy sounds like a winner. Anne, you can do better. Let’s hope this is one rumor that’s true. And…let’s just hope that Anne used her most devilish Prada to kick him to the curb. Yeah, I couldn’t resist.
More Legal Trouble?

Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, may be in more legal mess. According to the NY Post, State Attorney General Andrew Andrew Cuomo is investigating a children’s charity operated by Follieri. Cuomo served subpoenas in recent weeks for financial documents from The Follieri Foundation, headed by Raffaello. Anne also served on the foundation’s board until at least last year, when she traveled to Central America with Follieri for a charity-funded vaccination program. She’s no longer on the board. Just two month ago, Follieri was arrested in Manhattan on charges that he bounced a $215,000 check written to a New Jersey man. The case was dropped when Follieri paid up. Follieri also settled a suit earlier this year with Los Angeles billionaire Ron Burke regarding misappropriated funds Burkle’s company contributed to a joint venture with Follieri. Follieri’s rep told the NY Post that her client is cooperating with the investigation and that he “looks forward to concluding this matter in a timely and expeditious manner . . . so that he may continue to fulfill his ongoing philanthropic endeavors worldwide.” Wonder what Anne thinks about all of this.
Anne Hathaway’s Man Arrested

I wonder if the Devil Wears Prada star had to bail him out. This is interesting news. Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend of four years, real estate developer Raffaelo Follieri, was arrested in New York City today for trying to pass off a bad check. The check was for $250,000, if you were wondering. TMZ is reporting that Follieri was not handcuffed and went willingly with the police officers. His lawyers are now trying to sort everything out and he’s no longer in police custody. Anne has said in an interview that Follieri “has brought out so many positive attributes (in her life).” She’s been photographed numerous times walking around Manhattan with him. Well, we’ve all bounced checks. Granted, it’s probably never going to be for a quarter million dollars, but hey, he’s human. I’m sure everything will be sorted out in the next couple of days but I’ll definitely post updates as they come.
