Is Brit Dating Benji?

InTouch Weekly seems to think so. In their December 29 issue, they report that Paris Hilton’s ex Benji Madden has been secretly seeing Britney Spears. A source told the tab:
“They’ve been on a few dates. They met once at The Peninsula hotel in Beverly Hills for dinner in a hotel suite. She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her.”
The story claims Papa Spears came up with a list of acceptable suitors for his daughter which included Madden, Chace Crawford, Jesse Metcalf, and Michael Phelps. Manager Larry Rudolph made a few calls and the newly-available Madden was interested.
Is this true? Will the pairing work out? Well, Brit did say she wanted a guy with a career of his own.

Well, maybe for one night. E! News says ex-lovers Paris Hilton and Benji Madden hooked up at last night’s opening of the D&G boutique on Robertson Blvd. After running into each other on the red carpet, the pair adjourned to a private spot where they could talk but Benji soon left with bro Joel and Nicole Richie. Not present at the bash was Hilton’s recent date actor Gerard Butler.

According to Page Six, Nicole Richie doesn’t want Benji Madden to hook up with anyone new since his split from her BFF Paris Hilton. Sources report Nicole “has been really possessive and stops him from talking to other girls.” Richie, Benji’s twin Joel’s baby mama, was spotted bird-dogging Paris’ ex at a Good Charlotte record release party and the source continued ”Benji was approached by dozens of ladies. Girls were trying to flirt with him . . . but Nicole kept getting in the way.”
Hmm…does this mean Paris took their split harder than than we thought and Nicole knows she wants him back?

Paris Hilton is poo-pooing reports that she kicked longtime BF (long for her, anyway) Benji Madden to the curb so she could be free to party. In a call to Ryan Seacrest of E! News, Paris gave her take on the situation:
“Right now we’re just taking a break. He is an incredible person, and we will always be really close. We will see what happens in the future. I am still in love with him…He has been working nonstop with his brother on his new record. I am working and traveling. All these reports that say I dumped him aren’t true. This is a decision we made together as adults.”
Translation from celebspeak: I dumped him but my publicist thinks this version looks better for my image.
