“The Runaways” is getting a lot of attention for its girl-on-girl kiss by stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, but if the director had her way, the film would be even raunchier than it is! Floria Sigismondi revealed to the L.A. Times that she was restricted in some scenes because at 16, Fanning is still considered a minor.
“If I used an 18-year-old, I could’ve maybe had her topless … just to give it a little more reality.” She also faced challenges in filming the girls’ passionate kiss. “The challenging part was all the rules. One person can be on the bed; the other person can’t.” The film is rated R—which means Dakota isn’t old enough to see it in theaters!

A couple of surprise guests joined Joan Jett & The Blackhearts when they played a gig in Park City, Utah, over the weekend. People reports that Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, who portray Jett and bandmate Cherie Currie in the new film “The Runaways,” joined the rocker onstage. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and is getting positive buzz. “The Runaways,” which is based on the story of the 70s teen girl rock band, opens in theaters this March.

The film “The Runaways,” which chronicles the ups and downs of the 70s all-girl group, is already getting some major buzz. Yesterday the indie pic was acquired by distributor Apparition, who plan to release the film March 19.
Why so much interest a month before the movie is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival? Probably because it features Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, two of the stars in the red hot “New Moon.” So will legions of Twihards descend on Park City, Utah, next month? Only if their folks let them miss school!

It’s natural Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart would have a lot in common, since they’re both super-successful teen actresses, so it’s not surprising the two share a special bond. The two former child stars recently made a pair of films together: “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “The Runaways.”
Dakota told Teen Vogue, “We became really close. It’s like we’d known each other our whole lives. We talk all the time.” In “The Runaways,” Dakota and Kristen play teen rockers Cherie Currie and Joan Jett. Dakota finds similarities in the reel and real life ties. “The relationship that Joan and Cherie have in the script is kind of the one that Kristen and I have in real life . . . minus the destructive part.”
How does she avoid going down the path of too many other teen stars? “I get my rebellion out through movies. I’m boring that way. I enjoy having a normal life.” Good for her!
