Teri Hatcher strolled across the set of “Desperate Housewives” carrying a recyclable bag and a copy of the best-seller  “What the Dog Saw: And Other Adventures” by Malcolm Gladwell. The hit series was shooting on location in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Drea’s Not A Dead Housewife – Yet

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

A certain gossip blogger claimed today that Drea De Matteo was going to have a very abbreviated run on “Desperate Housewives,” due to her high salary and the show’s falling ratings. Michael Ausiello of EW says not so—his sources say the former “Sopranos” star is contracted to appear in 20 of this season’s 23 episodes, so she seems destined to be around for awhile.

Unfortunately, at least a couple of “DH” regulars are expected to bite the dust when Wisteria Lane is hit by a crashing plane on Dec. 6. But since Angie Bolen seems to have a very checkered past, we may see her being hauled off in handcuffs for past crimes.

ABC Gets More “Desperate”

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The honchos at ABC know when they have a winner, and they definitely have one in the series “Desperate Housewives.” Now in its sixth season, “Housewives” is Sunday’s most-watched entertainment program.

Today, Variety reported the net has signed the show’s creator Marc Cherry to keep the show running through 2013. Cherry was already signed to remain as exec producer of “Housewives” for seasons eight and nine. While Cherry is on board for three more seasons, not all of the cast may be joining him.

The show’s original “wives” are only committed through the 2010-11 season, and you can bet all will be expecting big, fat raises to re-up. This is, if Cherry wants them back. Could we see a “Housewife” who gets too greedy becoming victim to one of those sweeps-month disasters the show is so famous for? Stay tuned!

Drea’s A “Desperate Housewife”

Monday, June 29th, 2009

A taste of Italian spice is coming to Wisteria Lane this fall, as a new family moves in.

Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly broke the news this afternoon that Emmy-winning “Sopranos” actress Drea de Matteo will join the cast of “Desperate Housewives” this fall as the matriarch of an Italian family that also includes “her landscape designer husband and their tightly wound son.”

With Edie Britt gone, the series could definitely use a new vamp on the block, and Drea certainly fills the bill. While the actress has never been a “housewife” in real life, she became engaged to longtime BF Shooter Jennings earlier this month, when he proposed to her onstage during a show in Utica, NY. The couple have an 18-month-old daughter named Alabama Gypsyrose.

I’m a huge fan of “Housewives,” and Drea is one of my favorite actresses, so I’m totally looking forward to the new season.  Especially after the vast wasteland this summer’s TV is turning out to be.
