Grief-Stricken Liz Hospitalized

Legendary screen star Dame Elizabeth Taylor was one of Michael Jackson’s dearest friends, and she has made it no secret that she was devastated by his death. Now the aging actress’s grief may have made her ill.
NY Post Columnist Cindy Adams revealed today that Taylor has been admitted to an L.A. hospital, and states: “The heart’s gone out of her. As I’ve reported repeatedly, in a wheelchair, nurses in attendance, she was on the way to his London opening. Then he died, and she began screaming.
“Then the Jackson family denied her access to their funeral pews and barred her from the events because she was Michael’s friend, not theirs. She’s suffering weakness, tiredness, exhaustion, emotional draining. She hasn’t stopped crying. She and Michael were devoted to one another.”
This is beyond sad if it’s true. Taylor has suffered many heath problems in her 77 years, but has always bounced back. She stated on her Twitter account a few days ago that she was going into the hospital for scheduled tests, so let’s hope that’s all this visit is about.

Dame Liz To Skip Jackson Memorial

Many of Michael Jackson’s dear friends will be at tomorrow’s memorial service at L.A.’s Staples Center, but legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor won’t be one of them.
The 77-year-old screen star wrote on her Twitter, “I’ve been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don’t believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event.
“I said I wouldn’t go to the Staples Center and I certainly don’t want to become a part of it. I love him too much.” Taylor added later, “My love goes out to Katherine and Michael’s beloved children.”
Leave it to a great lady to show real class at a time when too many people are using Jackson’s unfortunate death to get their 15 minutes of screen time.

Elizabeth Aids Education

Iconic movie star Elizabeth Taylor is still focusing on helping others. The AP reports that the 77-year-old legend has made a $100,000 donation to the Alliance for Christian Education.
The Jewish actress stated she was inspired to support this cause “because our new president challenged us to break down barriers that divide us.” The Santa Barbara, Calif.-based alliance is funding a pilot program for global outreach and the Providence Hall Christian high school.
Taylor has long been active in bringing attention to worthy causes, even unpopular ones. The actress was the first Hollywood name to speak out about AIDS/HIV in the mid-eighties, after discovering longtime friend Rock Hudson was infected with the virus.

Liz, A-OK & With Her Jewels

The National Enquirer and Daily Mail reports that came out today stating Elizabeth Taylor’s children were called to her bedside after she was placed on life support is overly exaggerated, her rep is stating. Dick Guttman, her longtime PR guy, confirmed that Ms. Liz did go to the hospital, but it was just a precautionary visit. “Ms. Taylor is fine,” Guttman explained. “The rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels.” I love that along with family and friends, Liz is surrounded by her other love – her jewels. She is still so fabulous and we’re glad to hear she’s doing fine.

Liz Still Loves To Shop

This is a sighting you normally don’t see. Our photogs found Elizabeth Taylor shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills this past weekend. The 76 year old looked relaxed and smiled for the cameras. She was accompanied by her entourage. The Enquirer recently ran a story stating that Liz overdozed on liquor and pills. She was supposedly rushed to the Cedar Sinai Medical Center and then released the same day. Dame Liz has had problems with chemical dependency before. She was treated at the Betty Ford Clinic a couple of times in the 1980s. Let’s hope the NI story was a rumor. Say what you will, she’s still a living legend. Although, for someone with the best collection of diamonds and jewelry, she sure chose interesting ones to wear that day.
