Howie Calls Hospital Visit “No Treat”

Funnyman Howie Mandel didn’t find any humor in his recent trip to the emergency room. He told People, “It was no treat for me, being the germaphobe that I am. It was really hard. I wouldn’t put on the gown or the customary clothing. I remained clothed and in my boots on the gurney and in the hospital!”
An insurance-mandated checkup of Mandel revealed an irregular heartbeat. An EKG test led to a cardioversion, a procedure that shocked his heartbeat back to normal. But that wasn’t the end of his problems. After leaving the hospital, Mandel passed out and had to be rushed back in an ambulance. Mandel blames this on dehydration and insists “It had nothing to do with my heart. I did not have a heart attack.”
Mandel says the incident gave him a new appreciation for what really matters in his life. “You realize how important people close to you are and nothing else matters. My family and all of our health is paramount to anything.”

Our photogs found Deal or No Deal star Howie Mandell hanging out and shopping at the Grove this weekend. With that American Idol poster behind him, it looks like he’s one of the contestants on a photo shoot. Okay, maybe he doesn’t. But what was he doing just standing there? I guess he was people watching, which is the best free activity ever on the face of the earth. There’s a lot one can learn watching other people interact. Anyway, I heard Howie has a germ phobia and he doens’t like touching the contestants on the show. I have seen him look uncomfortable when a contestant’s tried to bear hug him. Well, we all hope Howie had a good time people watching and shopping this weekend.
