Jessica Alba will probably think twice before she lets herself become involved in another dubious “cause,” since the actress has been taking all the heat for what happened when she tried to save the sharks.

Last month, Alba was in Oklahoma City filming her new movie “The Killer Inside Me,” and was photographed pasting up large posters intended to raise awareness about the dwindling population of great white sharks. Some of those posters were slapped over billboards that advertisers paid big money for, so they weren’t happy to see them defaced. Especially not happy was the United Way charity, whose billboard was a victim of Alba’s misplaced zeal. The actress has since apologized to all injured parties and generally tried to make nice.

Now the AP reports that in an effort to finally make amends, Alba has made a sizable donation to Oklahoma City’s United Way. The amount has not been revealed, but is believed to be over $500. Maybe this will convince her that when you want to help a cause, just send money.

Since we’re constantly subjected to images of celebs who got back into bikini-ready shape a week after giving birth to twins, it’s refreshing to hear new mom Jessica Alba admit she had to rely on a bit of help. She told Elle:

“I wore a girdle. Eight weeks after my girlfriend had her baby, you could see her six-pack. She told me to put an elastic band around my waist – any kind of band or girdle works. I didn’t recover as fast as she did. I don’t have a six-pack – that’s just not my body at all.”

In a town full of gyms, Alba admits she tried getting into shape for a photo shoot but discovered she  hates working out. ”[The workouts] were horrible, I cried. And I haven’t worked out since.”

Of course being 28, naturally gorgeous and glowing with mommyhood lets her get away with most anything.
