Weekend Recap
Monday, July 21st, 2008What happened in celebrity news this weekend while you were at Target getting two bags of cheetos for $4? Quick, someone tell Brit! (I’m sorta’ kidding, of course.) Well, here’s a quick rundown:
Angelina Jolie finally took her twins home early Saturday morning. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline joined their daddy Brad and four siblings at Chateau Miraval, where the Jolie-Pitts are still staying in the south of France. The countdown for the first twin sightings continue, of course.
Dark Knight shattered all sorts of box office records during the weekend, raking in $155.4 million. Rounding out the top three: Merryl Streep’s Mamma Mia came in second, garnering $27.6, and Will Smith’s Hancock is still hanging strong, earning $14 million.
It’s official - Shannen Doherty’s joining CW’s Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off. Good times for all Brenda Walsh fans (including moi). Shannen’s Brenda is now a famous theater director and she will be invited back to West Beverly High to direct a musical. Yes, yes, we’ll play along with that plot line, just as long as Shannen’s back.
Mini-Me’s got everything settled (almost)! Verne Troyer has settled his sex tape lawsuit against Sugar DVD and TMZ. Verne signed agreements with Sugar DVD’s Kevin Blatt agreeing to get his approval before selling or distributing the tape. Now for the almost settled part…he still has his ex to contend with. He has a lawsuit against Ranae Shrider scheduled today, hoping to prevent her from releasing the tape. Good luck, Verne!
Jessica Simpson had her first country show on Saturday at the Country Thunder USA festival in Randall, Wisconsin, where she opened for Sara Evans. The fans’ reactions? Well, she got a mixture of boos and cheers. It was a lukewarm reception, to say the least, but at least boyfriend Tony Romo was in the audience cheering her on. She even dedicated a song to him. Yeah, hold your gagging noise for later.

Friday, July 11th, 2008No one likes to hear about someone losing there job, especially in these troubling and uncertain economic times. If you’re one of the fortunate that do have a job, do it well, regardless of whatever it is. If you take care of kids, take care of them as if they were your own kids. If you’re paid to flip burgers, flip those burgers as if you were serving them to Jesus Himself. And, if you’re paid to secure one of the worlds most bankable actors, you damn better be ready to take a bullet for him. Having said that, do you think the security guard in our latest episode of Pap 101 still has his job? I’m not sure, but probably not after this.

A big fat congratulations to our favorite Grease star, Olivia Newton John. Olivia recently married natural-health businessman John Easterling in two secret ceremonies, her rep told People Magazine. There was the Incan spiritual ceremony held on a mountaintop outside of Peru on June 21, which only the couple attended. Olivia and John then returned to the U.S. and had a beach front wedding in Florida’s Jupiter Island on June 30. Double good times. Olivia and John reportedly kept their nuptials a secret until the Fourth of July weekend when they finally told their friends at a barbecue in her Malibu home about their weddings. The couple met more than fifteen years ago but only became romantically involved last year. This is the second marriage for both Olivia and John.

Teen queen Miley Cyrus spent a lot of time in Malibu yesterday filming her next Hannah Montana movie. Before she got her workday started, the Disney star visited a local Starbucks for a morning pick-me-up. Miley’s usually a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf girl, but you can’t be too picky when you’re in need of caffeine stat. Once filming began by the beach, Miley looked like she was having a blast. Hey, I don’t blame her. She had a bunch of cute guys carrying her around in a surfboard on one scene. If I were her, I would mess up a take or two and enjoy the moment, and then nail the scene! Momager Tish was present all day at the shoot, and took her tired teen star to Duke’s Malibu Restaurant for some din-din afterwards. I have a ton more Miley pics after the jump, so check them out.
