Listening to her iPod and toting a big red bag, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl ran into the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. The actress and husband Josh Kelley adopted an adorable baby girl who will turn one this month.

New mom Katherine Heigl received visits from family and friends including T.R. Knight, who came out with baby drool on his right shoulder, and Dr. Tommy Tomizawa, at her home in Los Angeles, CA. Hubby Josh Kelley made a run at a local store while Katherine’s Mom dropped off presents and mail. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star and her husband adopted 10-month-old daughter Naleigh last week.

Is this why she kicked that nasty smoking habit? “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl is adopting a baby!

RadarOnline reports the actress and her husband Josh Kelley are in the process of adopting a 10-month-old girl from Korea. Her name is now Nayleigh, but the couple plans to call her Leigh. A source told Radar, “She is thrilled. She and Josh are so happy.”

Maybe this will make the honchos at “Grey’s” cut down on those 17-hour days Kathrine’s been complaining about.

Katherine Heigl has often been photographed smoking a cigarette—and just as often been criticized for it. But now the “Gray’s Anatomy” star has managed to kick the habit. The IMDB reports Heigl has been smoke-free for over a month.

The actress has lamented, “I started smoking when I was 24, because I’m an idiot. I don’t enjoy it so much now, because I’ve become such a slave to it. I hate planning my life around when I’m getting a cigarette.”

So has the 30-year-old star kicked the nicotine habit for general health reasons—or is she planning to get pregnant sometime soon?

Fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” don’t have to wait to discover the fate of T.R. Knight’s character George O’Malley—he’s a goner.

EW has revealed the actor has been granted a release from his contract, ending a long dispute over what Knight considered a lack of screen time for his character. Series creator Shonda Rhimes finally agreed to Knight’s request to get out of his contract, despite having three years left to go.

So where does Knight go from here? Who cares? What we really want to know is, what happens to Izzie? Katherine Heigl has also been open about her desire to leave the show, and the season finale left the impression that George and Izzie were on the same elevator to the Pearly Gates. But I suspect TPTB at “Grey’s” will make us wait until fall for the answer to that one.

Being pregnant can cause major mood swings, but mommy-to-be Nicole Richie wasn’t the only one affected by last night’s ep of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Nicole posted on her Twitter last night, “Just watched Grey’s & cried my f-ing eyes out. Now gonna catch up on Gossip Girl.” This week’s show was genuine four-hanky tear jerker that saw Meredith giving up her wedding gown—and her whole wedding—to the cancer-stricken Izzie. Following her shaky walk down the aisle, Izzie (played by Katherine Heigl), returned to her hospital bed to find her hair falling out. New husband Alex shaved her head, and told her she was beautiful. (sob!)

So that sets us all up for next week’s two-hour season finale, when we (maybe) find out whether Izzie dies, or has a miraculous recovery. Considering how we’ve been hearing for months that Heigl is leaving the series, I think Nicole—and the rest of us— better be ready with a bog box of Kleenex.

She’s not officially done with “Grey’s Anatomy,” but Katherine Heigl already has major film plans. E! reports Heigl is set to hooj up with Ashton Kutcher in the Lionsgate thriller “Five Killers.”

That does sound more exciting than hanging around Seattle Grace, wondering how soon your character will get killed off.

Despite earlier reports that Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight will depart “Grey’s Anatomy” after this season, their exit is not a done deal. The Hollywood Reporter calls comments by co-star James Pickens Jr. to US Weekly “premature.” 

“There are ongoing discussions about Heigl’s and Knight’s futures with the show, and nothing has been decided yet. Some sort of exit is seeming likely, but the timing is up in the air.”

I think that translates to “They’re still fighting over money.” Given the turmoil on the set of this show, I can’t see these two hanging around another season.

After months of speculation, a cast member from the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy” has confirmed that two key players, Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight, will be departing the show after this season. US Weekly reports that James Pickens Jr. leaked the news when asked whether Heigl would be leaving the show.

“Yes, she is. Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best.”

Pickens said of Knight, “He’s going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”

Both stars have been critical of the show and their roles, Heigl more so since she’s had some success with feature films. It will be interesting to see if the “Grey’s” producers add new characters as old one depart. It certainly worked for “ER.”

She may not be able to save people’s lives like the character she plays on “Gray’s Anatomy,” but Katherine Heigl’s helping to save unfortunate pups from life (and death) in shelters. The actress and her mom, Nancy Heigl, are working with the Pup My Ride animal rescue program from the Best Friends Animal Society, and their mission s to rescue healthy dogs from shelter life. Katherine told Access Hollywood:

“Over 600 dogs have been saved and adopted. Up in Utah and Arizona and some of these states around California, they have waiting lists for small dogs, people wanting to adopt and here we have an overwhelming number in the shelters.”

Katherine and her mom drive the dogs to their new homes, sometimes making trips that are 12 hours each way.  She happily owns up to being a serial doggie-adopter–she and hubby Josh Kelley have six!

The 27 Dresses star must have been very charming because she got out of a pretty hefty ticket. “The officer told Katherine to pick up the butt and throw it away in the trash, 10 feet away,” the source says. “He added that he’d fine her next time he catches her tossing trash on the sidewalk.” Wonder what Mama Heigl had to say. Tsk. Tsk.

Grey’s Anatomy BFF’s Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight were spotted doing a little shopping yesterday at Americana at Brand in Glendale, CA. It looks like Katherine got herself some treats from Sephora. Sephora rocks! I’m kind of diggin’ the fact that Katherine’s showing off her super womanly curves. Who knew she was stacking like that? Lucky, lucky Josh. Speaking of Josh, he recently talked to People Mag about the couple’s procreating plans, or lack thereof. “It’s nothing that we’re talking about right now,” Josh told the mag Tuesday at the X-Games Celebrity Skins Classic. “We’re pretty busy.” Katherine, meanwhile, admitted to the celeb rag in March that she would like to have kids sooner than her husband, but that agreed with him that wasting their current career opportunities would be foolish. According to the new issue of Us Magazine, Katherine Heigl’s character in Grey’s Anatomy could be killed off by next season. This news comes from one of the magazine’s “well-placed” sources. Katherine recently got a lot of flack for withdrawing herself from Emmy nominations this year because she felt she wasn’t “given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.” In response to her biting comments, staffers are considering giving Kath’s character Izzie a brain tumor. “[Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are pissed at her,” the source tells Us. “It’s their way of screwing with her. She won’t know whether she’s going to live or die.” Aww, poor Katherine. I’m sure she thought she was doing a good thing by withdrawing her name from the Emmy nomination list and her words just blew up in her face. At least if this rumor is true, she’ll get the juicy script she’s been waiting for from the Grey’s Anatomy writers. Everyone (sorta’) wins.

Katherine Heigl is escaping from romantic-comedies…for now. Kath has signed on to star in and produce a movie adaptation of Escape, the best-selling memoir of Carolyn Jessop. Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and was forced to marry a man 32 years her senior. She eventually fled and her testimony helped convict polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs. This could be an Oscar contender if done right, Ms. Kath. Act your little heart out!

Why is Katherine Heigl looking so glum on the set of her movie, The Ugly Truth? Maybe her mom didn’t like the Mother’s Day gift Kath got her. That’s what gift receipts are for, mom. Maybe Katherine’s been getting a lot of flack from reports that she’s leaving Grey’s Anatomy soon. It’s doubtful she’ll be able to get out of her contract, so maybe that’s what’s making her so blue.
