Angelina Has The Power
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Move over, Oprah! You’re not the most powerful woman in the business anymore.
At least. that’s what Forbes thinks. The magazine’s annual Celebrity 100 Power List has just come out, and the TV mogul was outranked by actress/supermom Angelina Jolie, who took the #1 spot for 2009.
Divas Madonna and Beyoncé came in at #3 and #4, with Tiger Woods, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Kobe Bryant rounding out the top ten.
President Barack Obama became the first prez still in office to rank in the Forbes 100—but came in at only #49. Oh well, guess he’ll have to settle for just being the leader of the free world.

Kirstie Wants Her Bikini Bod Back
Thursday, April 30th, 2009It’s been obvious for awhile that Kirstie Alley hasn’t exactly been successful at maintaining her 75-pound weight loss, but now she’s finally owned up to her failure.
Kirstie admitted to Oprah Winfrey that she has gained back all the weight she lost on the Jenny Craig program in 2006-2007—and more. But the “Fat Actress” star is determined to get back into that bikini she proudly wore on Oprah’s show in November 2006. She also wants arms like our First Lady.
“We look around. We see what we want,” Kirstie told Oprah. “Don’t you look around and see what you want to look like I’m, like, look, Michelle Obama’s guns. I could have those arms — I don’t know about the legs.”
Yo-yo dieting isn’t the greatest thing for your health. Maybe it’s time for Kirstie to find a weight she can reasonably maintain, and try to live with it. Her appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” airs today.

More Trouble At Oprah’s School
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009This wasn’t what Oprah Winfrey had in mind when she founded her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. Once again, the school has been rocked by scandal.
E! reports that seven students of the academy have been suspended for “inappropriate behaviors” with other classmates that allegedly included sexual misconduct. Academy spokeswoman Lisa Halliday stated, “Several students were expelled last week for violating the Leadership Academy’s code of conduct. We consider this to be a confidential school matter, therefore, we will not confirm any personal information or disclose any details related to these expulsions.”
Oprah released her own statement to E!: “I’m disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school’s rules. It’s disheartening when any student has to be suspended or expelled and it’s a process that involves serious review and consideration.”
Does this school have a problem with discipline? Oprah better check this out carefully because every time the school is involved in a scandal, her name is the one attached to it.

Oprah Reaches Out To Rihanna
Monday, March 9th, 2009Oprah Winfrey has some motherly advice for troubled pop star Rihanna, who has allowed BF Chris Brown back into her life only a month after he beat her up. On her show Friday, Oprah had this to say:
“Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I was your friend, I would call you up and I would say, ‘Give it some time, get yourself some counseling, take care of yourself, Heal yourself first.”
The TV host added, “And also, love doesn’t hurt. I’ve been saying this to women for years: ‘If a man hits you once, he will hit you again.’” Oprah plans to dedicate a show this week to domestic violence. There’s no date announced on her site but Thursday is TBA.
You go, Oprah. Use this terrible incident to enlighten your huge audiences about the realities of domestic abuse, which too many of us try to ignore.

Oprah Says She Abused Food
Monday, January 5th, 2009Oprah Winfrey has admitted her distress at getting up to 200 pounds again but on her TV show today, she went into more detail about how she packed on the pounds and what she intends to do about it. In a transcription on her website, Winfrey stated:
“It’s not about the food. It’s about using food – abusing food. Too much work. Not enough play. Not enough time to come down. Not enough time to really relax…I am hungry for balance. I’m hungry to do something other than work.”
The 54-year-old media mogul plans to take more time out from her grueling schedule for herself, including exercise and relaxation. That sounds like a good plan for all of us.
