The new lineup of has-beens and never-weres has been announced for the new season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Most likely to be first man out is Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Looking more promising are pop star Jewel and her husband, rodeo champion Ty Murray, who will be competing with each other.

Not competing are country hunk Chuck Wicks and his partner, girlfriend and two-time “Dancing with the Stars” champion Julianne Hough. Julianne had announced she would sit this season out to concentrate on her singing career. Did the producers lure their most popular dancer back with more money and sweeten the deal by putting her honey on the show? And doesn’t Wicks have an unfair advantage by being with his partner 24/7?

Representing the jocks are Olympic gold-medal gymnast Shawn Johnson and former New York Giant and Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor. On the music side are Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle and rapper Lil’ Kim.

The rest of the D-listers include actress Denise Richards, actor-comedian David Alan Grier, actor Gilles Marini, Steve-O of “Jackass” and “Access Hollywood” host Nancy O’Dell.

The eighth season of “Dancing with the Stars” begins March 9.

Back In The Ward

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Well, at least he’s asking for help. Steve-O (real name Stephen Glover) checked himself into a mental institution after remaining sober for 115 days. Although he’s passed the 100-day sobriety mark, he still suffers from intense mood swings and depression. He was prescribed medication by his doctors, but he still hasn’t found the right combination. “The medication that is prescribed to me doesn’t do the trick every day, let’s just put it that way,” he posted online, “I’m back in the looney bin trying to get that s–t right.” Love him or not, at least he’s trying to better himself. Best wishes to Mr. Steve-O!

Steve-O In Court

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Jackass star Steve-O appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom today to plead not guilty to a charge of felony cocaine possession stemming from his arrest last month. Eonline.com is reporting that he entered his plea through lawyer Barry Sands. He is scheduled to appear back in court May 13 for a preliminary hearing to decide whether a trial is necessary. Steve recently did a brief stint at the UCLA Medical Center’s psych ward. He talked to fans outside the courtroom about his his ordeal and stated that he’s been clean for 44 days. What’s up next for the newly clean and sober Steve-O? He’s recording a comedy-gangsta’ album with G-Unit. Hmm, good luck staying clean during the making of that.

Steve-O In Rehab

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Steve-O is now in rehab. The fallen Jackass star, who was involuntarily placed under a 72-hour hold at Cedar Sinai Hospital last week for attempting to commit suicide, blogged on his Myspace about moving into rehab. He also detailed what went wrong in his childhood that’s caused these problems. He talked about his mom’s heavy alcoholism and even paints a story of a young child being “fed alcohol”. He did state that he wanted to get better and live a normal, happy life. He posted a really long blog, which I took a look at briefly. It looks like a worksheet he’s answering for the rehab center, but I could be mistaken. If you’d like to check it out, go to his Myspace page and it should be on there. Good luck with rehab, Steve-O. There’s a lot of work ahead of you.

Say It Ain’t So, Steve-O!

Jackass star Steve-O has been hospitalized. He was charged recently with felony drug possession of cocaine after an arrest earlier this month. He is currently in a mental ward at Cedar Sinai Medical Center, the same wing where Owen Wilson was taken to last year when the actor tried to commit suicide. Star Magazine is claiming that Steve-O (real name Stephen Glover) is on suicide watch. He was taken to the hospital on Sunday after he threatened to kill himself, was put on a 72-hour watch, which has now been extended to 14 days. Family and friends commented to Star that Steve suffers from untreated bipolar disorder and is currently going through extreme mania. We’re hoping Steve-O gets all the help he needs!
