They can pass he bubbly on Wisteria Lane—”Desperate Housewives” has been picked up for another season.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that ABC will be bringing back a dozen of their most popular series for the 2009-10 season. Those renewed include scripted series “Lost,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Ugly Betty” and “Private Practice.” Reality shows returning are ”Dancing with the Stars,” “The Bachelor,” Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Wife Swap,” “Supernanny” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

None of the shows in ABC’s freshman class have been picked up, and it’s not likely that any will be on the final fall schedule the network will announce at next month’s upfronts.

Debra Messing has been missing from the small screen lately, but she’ll be back on NBC this fall in a new series.

The Hollywood Reporter states the “Will and Grace” actress will star in a not-yet-titled sitcom as a hard-driving CEO who is forced to be a full time wife and mother after she gets laid off.

While losing your job is certainly something a lot of us can relate to these days, I have to wonder how much comedy there will be in watching Debra fumble around the kitchen, trying to figure out what all those appliances do.

The ladies of Wisteria Lane gave Edie Britt a big sendoff Sunday night—but not big enough to draw ratings for “Desperate Housewives.”

According to the AP, 13.9 million people watched the episode, which was enough to make the show number seven for the week, but short of the 15.2 million “Housewives” has been averaging this season.

Is interest in the show waning? Maybe, but it’s possible several weeks of reruns have caused viewers to look elsewhere. May sweeps are coming and those are the ratings that really count.

Famous fashionistas (like Paris Hilton, pictured) have shopped the Fred Segal stores for decades. Now the general public can see what really goes in inside the posh retail outlets.

Bravo revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that they will be launching a new show based on the Fred Segal location in Santa Monica. Bravo executive vp and general manager Frances Berwick stated, “Bravo has established itself as the go-to network for the hottest, trendiest and most dramatic docu-series on television. Fred Segal is a legendary retail haven synonymous with high fashion and style, and the fashionistas who work, shop and gossip at the store promise to have arresting, entertaining, colorful personalities and lives.”

This might be fun if we get to watch the customers making fools of themselves or the employees stealing, but if it’s one long infomercial for the Fred Segal stores—forget it.

The cast and crew of the new NBC drama “Southland,”starring Benjamin McKenzie, found out first-hand what real cops have to deal with when they did some on-location shooting in gang-ridden South Central L.A. It seems some gang members took offense at having their territory invaded.

A producer told RadarOnline, “We heard there was a disturbance in the area we were shooting and we went around it by doing the scene in another area.”

A local cop added, “This particular area is occupied by gangmembers and they are pretty mean. Usually, we are notified ahead of time so that we can offer some kind of protection to crews that are going to film here in South Central. But in this particular instance our Watch commander was not notified that they needed any assistance. Gangs are very territorial and they often don’t take kindly to having their neighborhood’s blocked-off, so, it pays to have the real police around when shooting in dangerous areas.”

Yeah, having the police around is always a good idea. Now we know why so many TV series are shot in Beverly Hills.

Simon’s not talking—but somebody behind the scenes at “American Idol” is. The NY Daily News reports that an “AI” staffer has been blabbing that this season’s final four have already been chosen—even though 11 contestants still remain in the running.

The lucky four are, not surprisingly, Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert and Alexis Grace. So who’s going to win? According to the snitch, it’s between Gokey and Grace. She told the Daily News why.

 ”Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds are better singers and musicians than Gokey and Grace, but they’re too much like past winners and ‘A’ successes. Adam’s too close in style and sound to Chris Daughtry, while Lil Rounds is a dead ringer for Fantasia. Even their background stories are similar!  The producers really want it to be Danny or Alexis. They think they’re very commercially viable, have a good image and a great story.”

But what if America votes one of them off before the finals? Maybe that’s why the judges have the chance to save one contestant from going home. But what will they do if the viewers vote off two of the fave four? 

Those chicks on “America’s Next Top Model” have always been a vicious bunch but this year’s crop may be too fierce for even Tyra Banks to handle.

According to the AP, chaos erupted in the line of aspiring models waiting to audition for the show outside Manhattan’s Park Central hotel on Saturday. Reports are that a fight broke out among potential contestants who had been waiting for hours and others who tried to break into the line. Then a car backfired and someone yelled “bomb!” When the smoke cleared, three people were arrested and six others injured.

What are they, crazy? Yeah, that’s a rhetorical question. Have any of the past “winners” of this stupid show ever become real “Top Models?” Nah. And this year’s crop has less than no chance since they’re looking for combatants—er, contestants—under 5′7″. Those shrimps ain’t gonna make it, no way.

But since we already know that people will do most anything to get on a reality show, including have 14 kids they can’t support, this can’t be much of a surprise. And if the ones who started the fight actually get on the show, it might be less boring than usual.

Voluptuous Kim Kardashian didn’t get very far on last season’s “Dancing with the Stars” but she still has warm feelings for the show and told RadarOnline how she felt about this year’s crop of ballroom hopefuls. Who has Kim picked as the front-runners?

“There are three that I think are really good. I think Shawn Johnson is so amazing. There’s something about those Olympians that they have that drive and determination. Of course she’s with my partner Mark [Ballas] who I think is amazing. Then I thought Gilles [Marini] was amazing. Cheryl was amazing and I thought they looked hot together. And then I think of Steve-O. He could be someone that really surprises everyone. And the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader ['The Bachelor'’s Melissa Rycroft] is also pretty good.”

So who’s going to win? Kim says, “I’m gonna give it up to Mark and Shawn Johnson.”

Who’s going home first? “I would say Steve [Wozniak], the Apple guy. I think he’s not gonna make it too far.”

Kim’s choices sound right-on to me. Especially since The Woz was spotted this week with one leg in a cast. He was bad enough before he was injured.

Unemployed actress Mischa Barton has finally found a job. The “O.C.” has-been landed a role on the CW’s drama pilot ”A Beautiful Life.”

The Hollywood Reporter says the show centers on a group of male and female models living together in NYC. Mischa plays Sonja, a fading supermodel trying to stay on top. That should’t be much of a stretch for her.

This sounds like a really boring series. Who wants to watch a bunch of pretty, shallow people sitting around whining about how their life sucks because they didn’t make the cover of Vogue? But whoever it is who watches “The Hills” will probably watch this mess, too.

We’ve been hearing for months that Katherine Heigl will be leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” after this season but last night’s episode was still a shocker. Heigl’s character Dr. Izzie Stevens revealed she is dying of cancer.

Izzie was diagnosed with a skin cancer called metastatic melanoma that has spread to her brain and has a survival rate of only five percent. This could explain those hallucinations she had of her deceased ex earlier in the season.

US Weekly reported last summer that the show’s producers were considering killing off Heigl’s character because they were unhappy with her prima donna behavior since her film career began to flourish. A source told US, ”[Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are pissed at her.” 

It looks like Heigl will be free to pursue those movie roles after this season’s finale of “Grey’s” airs in May.

Actress Hayden Panettiere seems to be on a constant rampage lately, and now her “Heroes” co-stars have to put up with her wrath. OK! Reports that Hayden is trying to get her ex Milo Ventimiglia fired from the show. A source dished, “She refuses to be on the set at the same time as him She is making it difficult for everyone involved.”

Milo seems to be acting more mature than his 19-year-old former GF, but how hard is that to do? “He’s not going to play any games or stoop to her level,” the source said.

Hayden needs to remember that no matter what superpowers your character may possess, they won’t help you if the producers of the show decide you’re a pain in the ass and kill you off.

“Her final episode is really beautiful, and it involves a lot of flashbacks. We did a flashback scene from five years ago.”

Sounds like those rumors about Edie taking a dirt nap are true. Well, it’s nice to know they’re giving evil Edie a big sendoff, but for me, the show won’t be the same without her. Unless they recruit another trampy vamp to fill Edie’s Wonderbra, things could get a bit dull in Fairview.

Oprah Winfrey has some motherly advice for troubled pop star Rihanna, who has allowed BF Chris Brown back into her life only a month after he beat her up. On her show Friday, Oprah had this to say:

“Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I was your friend, I would call you up and I would say, ‘Give it some time, get yourself some counseling, take care of yourself, Heal yourself first.”

The TV host added, “And also, love doesn’t hurt. I’ve been saying this to women for years: ‘If a man hits you once, he will hit you again.’” Oprah plans to dedicate a show this week to domestic violence. There’s no date announced on her site but Thursday is TBA. 

You go, Oprah. Use this terrible incident to enlighten your huge audiences about the realities of domestic abuse, which too many of us try to ignore.

Eva Longoria made a statement to the press during a break on the set of Desperate Housewives. WGA picketers continued to chant slogans like, ‘Longoria, Longoria, We Write Your Storia!’ Yes, that’s what they were saying. With writing like that, it’s no wonder the studios are trying to screw them. We’ve got video of the interview coming in a bit, so check back. But for now, check out the images of the protesters giving Longoria a hard time on the set.

Longoria also tried to take advantage of the media attention by buying dozens of pizza’s for the picketers. I might be wrong but I think Julia Louis-Dreyfus was hoping for a little something more from Eva, like walking off the set in solidarity with the WGA. I don’t know, judge for yourselves by the last image.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus walked the picket lines with her Writers Guild Brethren outside of the Toluca Lake set of Desperate Housewives today. I’m not sure why she wasn’t picketing outside her own television show… oh wait, yeah I do, because no one cares about her new show. I couldn’t even tell you the name of her new show and I even looked on IMDB! Ever since the end of Seinfeld, Elaine and the other alum have failed to re-capture the old magic. Or maybe Dreyfus is hoping to move into Wysteria Lane next season. Either way, we’ll have video from the protest soon and we’ll get a chance to hear Eva Longoria’s side then.
