No Ceremony For Golden Globes

It’s official - there will not be a televised Golden Globe Awards for 2008. Can you believe it? NBC announced plans to scale back on the telecast, opting to air a special edition of Dateline that will showcase the nominees followed by a press conference announcing the winners. There won’t be any red carpet interviews and commentaries this year. Worst of all for many who tune in, there won’t be any fashion, fashion and more fashion. I won’t be able to comment on Angelina Jolie’s yellow gown or hubby Brad Pitt’s Englishman’s tuxedo. And yes my little kumquats, you will have to cancel your pre-Golden Globes party this year. Who’s going to eat all that Swedish meatballs? I don’t know, but I think you can keep it in the freezer for a while. The Golden Globes usually bring in the awards season, so things will be a little off-kilter this year. Rumors of the Golden Globes being cancelled have surfaced recently due to the WGA strike, which would’ve kept a lot of actors from attending the telecast as a show of support. Let’s hope the strike reaches a fair conclusion before the Academy Awards next month.
