Britney Updates

As many of you may have heard or read in the news, Britney Spears will be staying at the UCLA Medical Center for another 14 days. Only her psychiatrist has the power to request the extra stay, so Brit’s doctor may need more tests and/or more time with the pop star to fully understand her problems. It’s been confirmed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Britney was supposed to appear in court today regarding her child visitation rights, but instead her lawyer and two other attorneys recently hired by Jamie Spears appeared for her. As expected, Brit’s visitation rights didn’t change and she still can’t see her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden Jaymes. The next child custory hearing is set for February 19.

Her temporary conservators, dad Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet, are in court today to extend their conservatorship, which Britney’s current lawyers are challenging. The conservatorship is expected to remain with Jamie Spears. There are a lot of legal wranglings going on in Brit’s life while she’s in the hospital. I think it’s actually in her best interest that she doesn’t have to deal with all this drama. She should just concentrate on getting better. Brit can legally request to leave before the extra 14 days are over if she deems well enough to go, but sources close to the star say that she plans to stay in treatment.
