Hannah Montana Beats The Eye

Okay, I have to use her new name: Miley Ray Cyrus. It doesn’t really matter what I call her, though, she’s still known as the beloved Hannah Montana to all her loyal fans. And these are very very loyal (and spending) fans, because Miley Ray’s new concert movie, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, earned the number one slot in the box office last weekend. The movie was only in 683 screens, but it still beat out Jesssica Alba’s The Eye and Eva Longoria’s Over My Dead Body. By the way, both these movies were shown in more theaters than Miley’s movie. How ’bout them apples? Seriously, the tween buying power is immense. I forsee the same thing happening when High School Musical 3 comes out. Parents of tweens beware…and cash out all your 401K for HSM3 and its accompanying merchandising campaign. You have been warned.
