Pap 101: Paparazzi Paintball!

Two weeks ago, a group of Paps got together at the Hollywood Sports Park in Belleflower California for some friendly paintball action! Most peple don”t realize how extremely stressful this job can be and sometimes the only way to relieve that stress is with other paps who understand. So often times we get together with friends and rivals to blow off some steam and re-charge the ol’ lumidyne’s. Uli was there and as usual, he had lots to say to the camera and also managed to get a couple paps to comment on Ashley Tisdale’s allegations against the phantom paparazzi who broke into her home.

Glad you guys had fun. It was also nice to confirm both the use and pronunciation of “pap.”
I wrote a story recently and it included the sentence, “”There are “good” paps and “bad” paps.”"
My professor, a woman, said that when she first read that she thought, “You know she’s right. There are good paps and bad.” lol

Ama, ignore the comments at X. Look at the video. It’s almost exclusively of Uli and two security guards pushing on each other. One security guard pushes Uli in the chest. The other guard puts his hands under Uli’s armpits to hold him back.
Page down to “Britney Back to Boogie-ing.” The video is the 4th image down.
It’s the most unusual filming of a “celebrity” I’ve seen.
It really does make the point why Adnan can’t be papping now: He would be the story, not the celebrity.

I think you got the gist though right, of pushing, shoving, grabbing shirts. Uli did not have his camera in his hands.
I think I glimpsed Jonzen.
The segment ends with Britney pulling up, and Uli and others I think saying (to each other and the security guards), “Everything is cool.” Britney safely gets out.
I don’t have time to watch again right now but someone says, “Oh the umbrella again,” as Brit walks behind an umbrella.
I think you get the gist that X17 filmed JFXers and posted the footage. For what it’s worth, it was interesting footage, i.e, “A day in the life of the working paparazzo.”
It’s a jungle out there.

I’m on Vista. I watched a minute part of the video today so it’s still up.
Sometimes I have to reboot my PC to hear a video on X17 so no blue screen as you described.

Ama you are right. Right now it is 3 p.m. PST. JFX’s clock is on EST. It is a little confusing.
As for Uli … I am not so sure about stepping away.
There were a number of paparazzi with each competing I imagine for positions to get the best spot.
How do you compete, put food on the table while others muscle in?
And/or how do you, as an artist (I LOVE Uli’s photos!!!!) get the shot you want, the one that is true to your heart and at the same time is the one that will sell?
Uli gets into it, that is true. Why he does, I don’t know. I have tried to be a student to reach across worlds and understand the P-Card, when it is played, how it is played.
I try to understand the competition and video and the need to get closer to the celebrity than in the past.
I try to understand my conversion from bystander to active support. It has been an interesting journey and impossible without Pap 101, Mark Twain, Ronnie, and some others.
I don’t fault, Uli. There’s something about not walking away that is part of his intrigue and mystery. It’s him.
Was he doing anything wrong that the market does not justify or egg on, and reward? I am sure Uli is reasonable, but with unjustified behavior by another … well that’s just not right.

I dont fault him, you read my message in a very strange way.
I say it better for him to not jump into this distraction (when its possibly) becasue he have an own interest in getting a good pic!
And its him, only him, who can have the control over where he will put his effort.

Tell you, I have temper, but I dont let get in my way when I is out for getting/doing something.

I didn’t understand that you thought Uli should be more “singular” in his objective.
But then Ama … wasn’t he being? He wanted the best shot and he got harassed by security.
Besides he has a teammate …. which I understand is required to survive in the game of pap L.A.
One thing I admire in JFX is their loyalty and teamwork. Teamwork is such a beautiful thing to me. Jonzen has him covered. In other words Uli can afford to defend himself and still jockey for the best position in a photo shoot.
Gosh Ama. This is still a new world to me. If you see the picture different, tell me, but for me Jonzen and Uli have each other’s back.
There is strength in the pack.
