Achy Breaky Heart
Who knew the guy who sang “Achy Breaky Heart” would be fathering the biggest Disney star in the world? Our photogs spotted Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, posing on his hog for the photogs. Yeah, I tried to make that rhyme, but it just sounds funny. Billy Ray was riding around on his motorcycle in Toluca Lake yesterday. Billy Ray is co-starring in the upcoming Hannah Montana movie, but he also has other movies in the works. He just completed Flying By with Heather Locklear and he’s in a comedy with Bill Engvall called Bait Shop, which is coming out this September. Good times for Miley’s dad. Who knew that Achy Breaky Heart would be around this long. Yes I was one of the groupies back then but I would have never thought he would still be around. I seem to remember he disapeared for a while from show business and popped back up when Miley started performing some. Now they are both in the spotlight.

Well Gigi,,you could not be more wrong. I have followed Billy Ray since 1992 and I can tell you first hand that he NEVER went anywhere. People like you did though. There is not one place in the past 16 years that he has NOT sold out. Nashville suits forsake him because they figured he never paid his dues. Yet, when he played the Grand Ole Opry? He got standing ovations. He was given the Diamond Award up here in Canada as well as won a JUNO. He atarred in a series called DOC…surely even you have heard of that? It was quite popular for 4 years or so. It was on the PAX network. He also starred in the lead of a musical play up here in Canada called Annie Get your Gun. It was such a hit, that it was extended. He HAS had 10 hits in the top ten. You didn’t hear any of them? Oh, he also has had so many videos on CMT and GAC in both countries…surely you have seen some of those? He has been on the cover of TV GUIDE a few times. He was Online People’s magazine sexiest man. He has had dinner at the White House. He played for Bill Clinton and your Vice President was on stage dancing to his music. It made all the papers down in the USA. His song “Some Gave All’ is practically an anthem for your fighting men/women in the services. He quite often plays free concerts for them all over the world. He has received numerous awards for things other than music. Again.this had made the newspapers.The list goes on and on and on and on. So, NO…he has NOT just popped up because of Miley. He has ALWAYS been here. Where were you?

Well Gigi you couldn’t have been a groupie for long. I’ve been following Billy Ray & Sly Dog since 1992. There was one period where they did not tour for 2 years, but still made music. He’s had a few songs in the top ten, he filmed “Doc” for 4 years in Toronto Canada and still toured. He stars in “Hannah Montana” with Miley and he is the host of “Nashville Star” which is on NBC every Monday night. In fact we saw him at a sold out concert in Atlantic City NJ on June 14th.

He has been around the whole time between 1992 and now. I have been to 122 of his shows during that time and loved every one of them. He has a fan club called the Spirit where I have made many friends. We all watched Miley grow up and saw her many times with him at shows and fan club events. Yes, he is Miley’s Dad but a big star in his own right for the last 16 years. I don’t understand Gigi why you said he went away. Maybe you did but he sure didn’t…

Woah, Gigi. I didn’t realize the B.R. still had such a passionate following. Well, to everyone, let’s play nice. Gigi’s a stand up gal. I would have thought the same thing as well and I do appreciate you guys filling us in on what Mr. Cyrus has been up to the last few years.

Thanks for those great pics of BR. I just saw him in concert in Cherokee,NC where he sang his new single that was just released to radio. Its called “Somebody Said A Prayer” Some radio stations are already playing it and if you get a chance give it a listen. To me it has hit written all over it.

Ronnie, you’ll probably hear a lot more LOL! Billy Ray has been involved in so many things over the past 16 years I can’t remember them all. He founded the Billy Ray Cyrus Charties, which his father Ron Cyrus ran until his death 3 years ago. The foundation helps underprivileged children. His foundation has given away millions of dollars.
