After pleading No Contest to leaving the scene of an accident last month, Adnan Ghalib was sentenced today to 45 days in jail with credit for one days served. He will also serve probation and community service and be required to take anger management classes. This all stems from an incident earlier this year when process servers tried to serve Adnan papers and instead were allegedly run over by Ghalib as he fled the scene. Three of the more serious felony counts were dropped.

Adnan Ghalib pleaded no contest to felony hit and run in a Van Nuys courtroom today. Judge Speers ordered Ghalib to server 45 days of jail time as well as 45 days of community service. Ghalib must also attend anger management courses and will serve three years of probation. The two counts felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery were dropped as part of the plea deal. Ghalib was facing a potential 7 years of jail time stemming from an incident in which a process server alleged Ghalib used his car to assault the process server as he tried to serve Ghalib restraining order papers. Ghalib must surrender himself to Los Angeles County Jail on or before November 26, 2009.

The former boyfriend of Britney Spears was arraigned Monday for felony assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery, and will be back in court on September 29.

Former paparazzi Adnan Ghalib arrived at the Van Nuys, CA, courthouse this morning for the first day of the preliminary hearing pertaining to his scheduled trial for felony assault. The L.A. County District Attorney has charged Ghalib with three felonies: assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and hit and run.

UPDATE: TMZ reports a  judge has ruled there is enough evidence to prosecute Adnan Ghalib for all three charges and he will be arraigned on July 23.

Following his court appearance Thursday morning, Adnan Ghalib had lunch with his bail bondsman at Fred Segal in West Hollywood, CA.

UPDATE: At least I would, if there were any. The gossip blogs and tabloids seem to be ignoring this story, which seems odd since a man’s freedom is at stake.

Britney Spears’ former boyfriend Adnan Ghalib has finally spoken out about the legal complaint that has him facing three felony charges.

According to RadarOnline, Ghalib filed papers last night in an L.A. court in which he denied “each and every allegation” that had been made against him by process server Ram Moskowitz. The court papers are available here. In February, Moskowitz was attempting to serve the former paparazzo with a restraining order seeking to keep him away from Britney Spears and her family members, when the process server alleges that he was hit by Ghalib’s car. 

While it certainly seems like a positive step for Ghalib to answer the complaint against him, why did he take so long? Jamie Spears and his conservatorship cronies have been smearing Adnan’s name for months now—why hasn’t he spoken out before? It’s not just his good  name that’s at stake here—it’s his freedom.

While Britney Spears has been busy touring, working her cute little butt off to make money, her daddy Jamie Spears has been busy spending it on lawyers, fighting anyone who threatens his stranglehold over his daughter’s life. Those pesky legal bills will get even higher now, since one of his targets is fighting back.

RadarOnline reports attorney Jon Eardley has filed papers in an L.A. court appealing the three-year restraining order served against him, and also objecting to being forced to pay the legal costs of obtaining the order. Eardley, Brit’s former manager Sam Lutfi, and her ex BF Adnan Ghalib were all slapped with three-year restraining orders keeping them away from the singer and her family. The three were also ordered to pay court costs the Spears team incurred obtaining the orders. 

Eardley objects to being lumped together with Brit’s former manager Sam Lutfi, stating, “The court will recall that the bulk of the witnesses were called with respect to Lutfi. The investigation substantially focused on Mr. Lutfi.”

A hearing is scheduled for May 29. Will Eardley have the legal savvy to stand up to the Spears conservatorship? 

A somber Adnan Ghalib left the Van Nuys Court house this morning with his lawyer following his felony hearing. The former boyfriend of Britney Spears was ordered to stand trial, and will be back in court May 18.

So here’s video of Adnan Ghalib leaving court earlier today. Looks a lot like the last time he went to court, I know, but in our defense, he is wearing a different tie this time. This time around, the court has set a preliminary date for the felony trial to begin and from tactics by the prosecutor it should be quite a ‘circus’ when trial really starts! So after sitting in the court room with Adnan for at least 30 minutes, the D.A. decided to wait for the cameras to roll and try to have Adnan served with not only a restraining order on behalf of the allged victim Ram Maskowtiz, but also a second restraining order for Britney Spears!!! I guess turing around in her seat and handing the restraining order papers to Adnan and his lawyer before the cameras rolled would have been to easy. So rather than do it the easy way, the D.A. decided to risk looking like a fool live on the internet and have double the restraining orders against Britney Spears issued under the guise of Maskowtiz’s order. Adnan’s lawyer seemed to expect the restraining order from Maskowtiz, but was close to outraged to hear that the D.A. was in a sense recruited by Jaime Spears to serve the second pointless restraining order.

In the D.A.’s defense, Jaime Spears’ lawyers are pretty intimidating. Fortunately, the judge saw through the media ploy and denied the second restraining orders. And by the way, did you also see the embarrassment on the D.A.’s face when Adnan’s lawyer showed the court the blacked out pages of the supposed photos of the scene of the crime?!?! Priceless. I almost felt sorry for her.

Britney Spears’ former boyfriend Adnan Ghalib was in a Van Nuys court this morning, and it looks like his legal problems aren’t going away anytime soon.

TMZ reports a judge ruled there is enough evidence to try Ghalib for felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and felony hit-and-run, all charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly hit a process server with his car. A temporary restraining order was granted on behalf of alleged victim Ram Maskowtiz against Ghalib. The judge refused to add Britney Spears, her two sons and her father Jamie, to the order because a permanent restraining order already obtained by her conservatorship is in place until 2012.

Ghalib will be back in court May 18 for a preliminary hearing which will set a trial date. His attorney claims photos from a security camera of the alleged crime scene will vindicate his client.

The legal woes keep mounting for Britney Spears’ former BF Adnan Ghalib.

Ghalib already faces three felony charges resulting from an incident in which he was driving a car that hit a court officer trying to serve him with a restraining order. TMZ reports he is being sued by Ram Moskowitz, who claims Ghalib “maliciously” struck him with a car, sending him flying onto the hood, then driving 30 – 40 yards. 

Ghalib’s problems began when Britney’s dad Jamie Spears, who heads the conservatorship which controls her life, requested a temporary restraining order against him, the singer’s ex-manager Sam Lufti, and attorney Jon Eardley. The order against Adnan has been extended until 2012, barring him from any contact with Britney for the next three years.

TMZ reports a judge granted the request of Adnan’s defense team for a continuation until May 4. Adnan has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit and run for allegedly hitting a process server with his car.

Maybe, maybe not, but the British tab The Sun seems to think so. They published a story today called “Britney’s desperate texts to ex.” I’m immediately wary of any story about a celeb that uses the word “desperate.” I just don’t believe rich, famous people are all that “desperate” for anything.

So this story claims Britney Spears is lonely and has been sending texts to former BF Adnan Ghalib, begging him to “rescue” her from Dad’s conservatorship, but he can’t reply because it would violate the restraining order against him which is in place until 2012. Here’s what they say:

“She keeps sneaking messages to Adnan begging him to help her win back her freedom. She says she is lonely and misses being able to date the men she chooses. She feels trapped. She has been begging him to meet her and help her come up with a plan to get out of her dad’s conservatorship. Some messages have got back to her via her hairdressers and style team – but Adnan cannot contact her otherwise he will face jail.”

Notice there’s no timeline here. We already know that in the past, Brit was caught sending text messages behind Daddy’s back—that’s one thing that led to the restraining order. So is this news or just a rehash of stuff that’s been printed already? I’m inclined to think the latter. I hope it’s not true because Adnan’s in enough trouble already and doesn’t need to add to his list of legal problems. I guess I’m not “desperate” enough to believe everything I read in the British tabloids.

RadarOnline reports the TRO against Lutfi and Ghalib has been extended until 8:30am on Wed., March 18th, when another hearing is scheduled. The TRO against Eardley is extended until 8:30am on April 1st. You can read the document here.

This certainly can’t be considered a huge surprise, but why extend the TRO for such a short period? What’s supposed to happen Wednesday?

The legal problems for Britney Spears’ former boyfriend keep growing. The London Daily Mail reports that Adnan Ghalib could be facing not only a prison sentence but being deported to war-torn Afghanistan.

Ghalib faces three assault charges—assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery—which can carry up to a seven-year prison sentence. The charges stem from an incident on February 11 when a court official trying to to serve him with a restraining order to stay away from Spears was allegedly struck by Ghalib’s car. He has pleaded innocent, is out on bail and returns to court for a hearing April 2.

There is some confusion as to Ghalib’s nationality, as some legal papers list his country of origin as Afghanistan, another names Great Britain. He moved to the U.S. from Afghanistan when he was five years old.

A source from the Los Angeles police told People News, ”The country of citizenship listed on the legal files is where someone convicted of a serious crime will be deported to whether they hold a green card or not.”

Obviously, felony assault is a serious crime but we can’t know in advance whether a deal will be made for Ghalib to plead guilty to a lesser charge, or if he will be convicted of anything. That will have to wait until he gets his chance to defend himself in court.
