The Giving In Thanksgiving

I just saw a fabulous story on People.com (yes, we do check in and support each other in this crazy business) about Angie Harmon giving up some of her time to volunteer at Alliance For Children’s Rights, a charity that protects the rights of abused and impoverished children all over Los Angeles. And just this past weekend, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden had a baby shower where all gifts were donated to their newly formed Richie Madden Foundation. One hundred expectant families will be given baby gifts as a result. Believe me when I tell you that we love showing you pics of celebs galore and their oft-times lavish ways, but there are these stories of the same celebs who do good work year round that never really get any exposure. And yes, it does somewhat blow that we highlight giving during the holidays, but I guess that’s when it’s needed the most.
So for any celebs out there (and you, our lovely readers) that are wondering what they can do to add on to their Thanksgiving feast - how about giving an hour or two of your time to feed the homeless or simply just dropping off a turkey to your local shelter. It’s really as easy as a quick research online or even your yellow pages - you will find a charity that can use your help. And with that - let’s get back to more celeb news. Balance - isn’t that the key?
Jim Carrey All Smiles While Saying Yes, Yes, Yes

Jim Carrey was all smiles while filming in Pasadena, CA for his new movie, Yes Man. The film is about a man who decides to say yes to everything asked of him for a whole year. Wow, what a concept. A man who says yes to everything. Actually, don’t we already call them husbands? I kid. The film is set to release sometime in 2009, so we’ll have to wait and see what exactly Jim’s character ends up saying yes to. Peyton Reed, who also directed The Break-Up and one of the best guilty pleasure movies ever - Bring It On, is heading the cast and crew.
