Katie’s A Designing Woman
Friday, August 14th, 2009Given the lack of style Katie Holmes has been showing all summer, I can’t see why anyone would want her name on a line of clothing, but it seems that anyone with a name can be a “designer” today.
People reports that Mrs. Cruise will be collaborating with her her stylist Jeanne Yang (she has a stylist?) to produce a line to be sold at chic boutique Maxfield in the fall. The pricey collection will include styles for women and kids.
Wonder if the line will have those ratty cardigans and cutoff jeans Katie’s been sporting lately?

Wal-Mart Has Designs On Miley
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Parents of tweens, don’t breathe a sigh of relief because your little girls have outgrown their “Hannah Montana” backpacks. The nation’s largest retail chain has more goodies coming to tempt them into spending their allowances.
According to Reuters, Wal-Mart has announced the launch of a fashion line with “Hannah” star Miley Cyrus, set to debut just in time for back-to-school shopping. The Disney princess will team with Max Azria of BCBGMAXAZRIA to design a line of graphic tees, tops, pants, shoes and accessories, all retailing for less than $20 each.
This sounds like a good deal for the budget-conscious teen. Miley’s pal Taylor Swift already has a line of sundresses available only at Wal-Mart. It certainly makes more sense than those overpriced “designer” lines some young actresses have done.

Lauren To Design For Kohl’s
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009Lauren Conrad must have finally figured out her fans can’t afford to buy couture. These days, hardly anyone can.
A month after the demise of her upscale line, “The Hills” star told USmagazine.com her new line of clothing, called LC Lauren Conrad, will be sold at discount chain Kohl’s. It is a California chic line,” she tells Usmagazine.com of the new brand, called LC Lauren Conrad. “It is a little more casual. They are basically trying to take that California style and make it accessible everywhere.”
Of course, “accessible” is a nice word for cheap. The line will be available in Kohl’s stores and on their website starting in October, for $20 to $60. And available on Kohl’s sale racks for half that by Halloween.
