Convicted Rihanna-beater Chris Brown was back in court today to give the judge a progress report on his probation for felony assault. The disgraced R&B star was sentenced to undergo counseling and must perform six months of community labor in Virginia.

Lawyer Mark Geragos earned his hefty fee by convincing probation officials that Brown had already done 100 hours of community service. Whoopee. Isn’t that like, two and a half weeks out of six months? He does less than a month out of six and gets an “extremely favorable” report? Brown’s now doing a “comeback” tour and releasing a new album. When will he get back to VA and finish picking up trash off the highway?

Legendary rocker Rod Stewart is notorious for being cheap, but you’d think he’s know whom you can’t stiff—like your lawyers! E! reports L.A. law firm Glaser, Weil, Fink, Jacobs, Howard & Shapiro has sued Stewart for a whopping $3.3 million in unpaid fees.

The barristers repped Rod in three cases, including one where he was ordered to pay a Vegas hotel $2 million after canceling a show. Hey, just because you lost the case doesn’t mean you can stiff your lawyers. Pay up, Rod!

Free-spending actor Nicolas Cage has been sued by the business manager he blames for his financial problems. The AP reports Samuel J. Levin filed a countersuit in response to the star’s suit for fraud filed last month. Levin claims he went to work for Cage in 2001 and tried to restrain his buying sprees, which included luxury vehicles, multiple homes and lavish parties.

Cage has been forced to sell some of his automobiles and several homes have been lost to foreclosure. Cage sounds like someone with an addiction to shopping who just can’t help himself. Wonder how well rehab works for that?

At the time of his tragic death, DJ AM was suing several companies involved in the horrific 2008 plane crash that left him badly burned. Two months after the DJ, who was born Adam Goldstein, died from an overdose of drugs, his estate has added a charge of wrongful death to the suit, claiming “the crash ultimately caused Adam Goldstein’s death.”

TMZ reports the estate is suing Clay Lacy Aviation, the travel service, Goodyear Tire, Learjet and the estates of the two pilots killed in the crash. Goldstein had kicked his drug habit a decade ago, but painful burns from the crash caused him to take prescription meds, which led him back into addiction. DJ AM also developed a fear of flying that required anti-anxiety drugs to allow him to fly for business.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber have gone to court over a shocking photo of their daughter. The Huffington Post has revealed that the couple filed documents in U.S. District Court claiming that a friend of their former nanny has threatened to sell a pic of seven-year-old Presley “bound to a chair in revealing clothing.”

Crawford’s rep says the photo was taken without her knowledge. Isn’t something this kiddie porn? No wonder the parents are upset!

Chris Brown is finding that some people just aren’t going to forgive and forget what he did to Rihanna. TMZ reports the disgraced singer was posing with fans in NYC Wednesday night when a woman went up to him and shouted “****ing beater” and “I hope someone beats the ****ing crap out of you!”

All those anger management classes must be working, because Chris just smiled and walked on by. And ignored the fans who yelled, “Smack that bitch up.” Uh, wasn’t that what got him in all this trouble in the first place?

Justin Timberlake’s wacko stalker will have to restrain herself for the next three years—or wind up in the slammer. An L.A. judge has issued a permanent restraining order against Karen McNeil, who has been repeatedly trespassing on Timberlake’s property and attempting to get into his house.

According to the AP, McNeil has claimed “she was destined to rule the world and wanted to marry Timberlake so he could rule with her.” For the next three years, she’ll have to rule from a safe distance, or find someone new to stalk. The latter is more likely, since she’s already done a year in jail for violating an earlier restraining order against her from rocker Axl Rose.

Jennifer Lopez will be spared having the most intimate moments of her first marriage exposed to the public—but only for one more day.

TMZ reports a judge has granted J.Lo’s request for a temporary restraining order preventing her first ex-husband Ojani Noa from distributing a movie containing home video footage taken during their brief union in 1997-98. The star’s lawyer wants to see the footage, which allegedly contains his client in “a revealing lack of clothing, and in sexual situations, especially in the hotel room from [her and Noa’s] honeymoon.”

A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday to determine whether the restraining order will remain in effect. This is not the first time Ojani Noa has attempted to capitalize on his short marriage to Lopez, despite a confidentiality agreement signed by both.

Chris Brown has spent the last eight months trying to sweep his vicious beating of ex-GF Rihanna under the rug, so it’s no surprise he’s not happy that she’s all over the press and TV this week, telling her story. Tonight, Brown goes on MTV to tell his side, which will probably involve how he’s good to his momma and goes to church on Sunday.

Late Friday afternoon, following two appearances by Rihanna on “Good Morning America,” Brown released his own statement to MTV, as reported by People. “I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us. I do appreciate her support and wish her the best.” Uh, no, Chris—it doesn’t work that way. When you beat someone so badly that they have to go to the hospital, that’s not “private” anymore.

Brown’s statement continued, “I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God.”

Yeah, let’s drag Him into this. Too little, too late, Chris. Hope you enjoyed your career while you had it, because it’s gonna all be over after Rihanna reveals the dirty details of what you did to her on “20/20” tonight.

In a scenario that could have come straight from one of her films, actress Sandra Bullock is involved in a child custody dispute—with her husband’s porn-star ex-wife. E! reports that for most of the last year, Sandra has been taking care of five-year-old Sunny James, the daughter of her husband Jesse James. Sunny’s mom, adult film star Janine Lindemulter, has spent the last six months in jail for tax evasion, while James had sole custody. Now she’s out of the big house and wants her kid back.

The porn star went on “Good Morning America” and said of Bullock,  “What would give her the right to take away my daughter? This is my daughter. I’m the best mother I can be.” That’s not good enough for the current Mrs. James, who sent a letter to the judge in Lindemulter’s case, stating her concerns. “I myself have stopped working like I used to in order to be here with Jesse and the kids because we are on constant ‘high alert.’ Never knowing what condition Janine will be in, and even more concerning, the condition Sunny will be in. While in Janine’s care, sometimes Sunny is left alone during the day, while her mother is asleep from drug use.”

Well, it’s easy to see why the couple is reluctant to give up Sunny to her mom. What won’t be easy is the court battle that’s sure to come.

There are some bills you can get away with, but mess with the cleaning crew! Jam!Music reports rock trainwreck Courtney Love has been ordered to come clean with the maids who tidy up her crib.

Elite Maids filed suit against Love earlier this year, claiming she stiffed them for over $3,000. The case came up in court last week, and predictably, Love was a no-show. The judge ruled for the maid service by default, so Courtney’s expected to cough up the dough.

Good luck to Elite Maids—they’ll need it to get their money from the singer, who’s been whining lately that she’s broke.

In an effort to salvage what’s left of his career, disgraced crooner Chris Brown will be embarking on a “Fan Appreciation” tour. The AP reports the jaunt will begin in Houston Nove. 14 and play small venues.

Uh, isn’t he supposed to be in the middle of doing six months of all-day labor back in Virginia for the Rihanna beatdown? Is the court letting him out to do a tour? I certainly hope they don’t consider returning to the concert stage to be “community service,” even though a portion of the proceeds from the tour are supposed to go to charity.

Maybe someone in the justice system will note that only two months ago, Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling. Let him finish all that, then go back on the road.

Hollywood starlets with large collections of fashion items and jewelry should be able to  sleep easier tonight, knowing a sticky-fingered thief is off the streets.

TMZ reports 18-year-old Hollywood hanger-on Nick Prugo has been charged with two felony residential burglaries in the cases of break-ins at the homes of Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge. Still at large are Prugo’s partners in crime, who were seen on surveillance videos taken at both homes.

There are remaining unanswered questions involving the recent rash of Hollywood robberies. The first has to be whether Prugo or his associates were also involved in the similar heists at the homes of Paris Hilton, Hayden Panetierre, Rachel Bilson and Kourtney Kardashian. The last happened just this weekend, after Prugo was arrested, so it looks as though this rash of robberies isn’t over yet.

Lindsay Lohan arrived at the Beverly Hills Court more than an hour late for for a progress report in her 2007 DUI. The judge extended probation after learning that Lohan had not completed required alcohol education classes. If Linds cuts those classes again, she could wind up in jail!

Although she hasn’t been arrested recently, Lindsay Lohan’s legal problems are far from over. TMZ has learned the actress has been ordered to appear in court Friday in regard to her 2007 DUI case. Linds is still on probation, and must take part in an alcohol education program.

Has information come out about her rumored bad behavior and drug abuse? If the fallen star fails to convince the judge of her sobriety, she could wind up in the slammer for violating her probation. Lindsay’s managed to stay on the outside for more than two years—will her luck run out?

Adnan Ghalib pleaded no contest to felony hit and run in a Van Nuys courtroom today. Judge Speers ordered Ghalib to server 45 days of jail time as well as 45 days of community service. Ghalib must also attend anger management courses and will serve three years of probation. The two counts felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery were dropped as part of the plea deal. Ghalib was facing a potential 7 years of jail time stemming from an incident in which a process server alleged Ghalib used his car to assault the process server as he tried to serve Ghalib restraining order papers. Ghalib must surrender himself to Los Angeles County Jail on or before November 26, 2009.

f you’re one of the many who’ve been dying to see Chris Brown in an orange jumpsuit, you’ll be getting your wish.

The AP reports Virginia police as saying the disgraced singer “will remove graffiti, pick up trash and wash cars” as penance for his vicious beating of former GF Rihanna. Brown will be doing his six months of labor near his home of Richmond. Too bad he won’t be doing any of that grunt work in SoCal, where there would be plenty of paps to capture images of his downfall.

Somehow, I doubt that any of the “friends” who have tried to excuse Brown’s actions will be out there with him in the hot southern sun, helping him pick up trash.

Chris Brown claims to be “depressed” over being sentenced for assaulting Rihanna, but you certainly couldn’t tell from his actions after leaving court on Tuesday. A few hours after being sentenced to six months of community labor, plus five years probation and a year of domestic violence classes, Brown was out on the town, getting his party on.

People reports the disgraced singer joined a posse of his buds at the trendy Guys & Dolls Lounge in West Hollywood, where the group ordered several bottles of champagne. While being sentenced to hard labor seems like an odd thing to celebrate, this little party may lead to more trouble for Brown. The stipulations of his probation include no drinking or frequenting establishments where liquor is sold.

So what is the under-21 Brown doing in a bar? His probation office in Virginia may be having a talk with the singer about his conduct, since it could land him behind bars instead of inside one.

The former boyfriend of Britney Spears was arraigned Monday for felony assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery, and will be back in court on September 29.
