Bale Escapes Charges

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

The Dark Knight star Christian Bale will not be charged over claims of assault from an argument on July 20 in a London hotel with his mother and sister. Prosecutors at England’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) reviewed the case and determined that they will not press charges against the actor. The CPS released a statement today about their decision: “Taking all the factors into consideration, the decision has been taken that there is insufficient evidence to afford a realistic prospect of conviction, and accordingly the police have been advised that no further action should be taken against Mr. Bale.” The incident happened just a day before the U.K. premiere of The Dark Knight, with Bale calling it “a very personal matter” afterwards. Good news today for Christian Bale, but let’s hope the family feud ends soon, too.

Dark Knight Breaks More Records

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

I’m probably one of the six people in America who hasn’t seen Dark Knight. The movie is breaking all sorts of box office records worldwide and it just slashed through another one. The Batman sequel has climbed past $400 million at the box office in just 18 days, the fastest pace ever, according to a studio executive. As of Monday, the film had taken in $400.04 million domestically, so says its distributor, Warner Bros. Dark Knight hit that mark in less than half the time it took for the previous record-holder, Shrek 2, which crossed the $400 million level on its 43rd day of release. The movie also had a record opening weekend of $158.4 million. Will it surpass Titanic for the number one highest-grossing domestic movie? We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we? I think I’ll probably just wait for the DVD and contribute to that Warner Bros. fund instead.

Christian Bale Back In L.A.

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The Dark Knight’s Christian Bale is back in Los Angeles. Christian, along with his wife Sandra and daughter Emmeline, arrived at LAX today flanked by tons of photographers and airport security. Christian was arrested for allegations that he assaulted his mother and sister in London just last week. He turned himself in to undergo questioning with London police after the incident, but he was never officially charged. Bale has been on a whirlwind press tour for his portrayal of Batman in the hugely successful Dark Knight. He was recently asked in a Tokyo press stop by a reporter if he was doing okay after the arrest, but he merely replied that “it’s a private matter.” Check out more photos of Christian and family arriving in L.A. today after the jump. Enjoy.

Bale Needed Bail

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

The Dark Knight’s Christian Bale was arrested in London today following assault allegations reportedly made by his own mother and sister yesterday. Here’s the quick story. Christian was reported to have lashed out at his mum, Jenny, and sister, Sharon, on Sunday at the Dorchester Hotel where he had a suite. Jenny and Sharon went to the police on Monday morning to file a complaint. The police officers, well aware of The Dark Knight premiere that was taking place that same night, decided to let Christian attend the event, but had planned on questioning him afterwards regarding the assault. He was questioned this morning and taken to the Belgravia precinct station in central London. He was reportedly released a few hours later on bail and will have to return in September for more questioning. His reps released the following statement:

“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”
