Common’s Joining The Book Club

He’s already a member of the Oprah Book Club, but Common thought it would be neat to write his own book. I don’t think he used the word neat, but let’s pretend he did. What’s the book about? Well, Common will be writing about love. Yes, love…and relationships. And it’s a children’s book titled “I Like You But I Love Me.“ Common’s getting inspiration from a past relationship where he got his heart broken. MSNBC’s The Scoop hinted that it might be about Common’s ex, singer Erykah Badu. There’s no word when the book will be released, but I for one am going to buy the book and read it when it comes out. I’m a sucker for hip-hop dudes writing children’s books. C’mon, that’s better than taking a puppy to the park! Play on, Common.
Common’s All Smiles In The Big Apple

One of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Fun Fearless Male, Common, was all smiles walking around Manhattan today. It looked like he was in a Michael Jackson mood, circa 1984, with that snazzy Thriller jacket. Common’s set to play the Green Lantern in the big-budget Justice League of America movie. He also has a couple of movies he’s working on this year, including one with Angelina Jolie (Wanted). He’s sorta’ following in Queen Latifah’s steps - rapper turned serious actor. Okay, so playing the Green Lantern is not going to make him a serious actor, but he’s definitely getting the big roles. Good times for Common! And now that I look at this picture again, I realize that only he can get away with that jacket. Hawt.

We caught up with Rapper extraordinaire turned actor Common in Larchmont Village on Wednesday, unfortunately, minus rumored girlfriend Serena Williams. Common was uncommonly (heh heh, see what I did there?) nice enough to talk to us about his blossoming movie career, coming off of two critically acclaimed performances in ‘Smoking Aces’ and ‘American Gangster.’ I asked Common about the status of ‘Justice League of America’ which has him set to play the Green Lantern and he was eager to talk. Common responded, “Now that the writers strike is over, [the script is] going to head back to the writers for a cleanup. God willing, it’ll get done. This would be a big role for me.” Yeah, I know, of all the questions to ask him, I ask him about a comic book movie. I’d say sue me, but I’d be afraid someone just might!
