DJ AM, who survived drug addiction and a horrific 2008 plane crash, was found dead in his NYC apartment today.

TMZ reports the DJ’s friends became disturbed when they didn’t hear from him for a few days, and called the police, who found the body. Sources claim drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment. DJ AM, born Adam Goldstein, was 36 years old.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this tragic case in coming days, as details come out about the cause of death and what happened in Goldstein’s final days.

DJ AM To Intervene On MTV

Friday, April 17th, 2009

DJ AM has cheated death and conquered his own drug demons. Now he’s ready to help others get their lives together.

The Hollywood Reporter says DJ, aka Adam Goldstein, will be joining MTV’s upcoming intervention-style reality show called “Gone Too Far.” The series will feature tough-love interventions for young people dealing with substance abuse. DJ AM, who has been sober for about ten years, will be present as an addiction specialist attempts to aid the abusers.

This could be interesting if DJ AM honestly tries to use his own experiences to relate to the people who have problems.

DJ Am Wants $20 Mil

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

And after what he’s been through, who can blame him? TMZ reports that the DJ is suing the company that booked the ill-fated jet on which he was a passenger last fall. He and Travis Barker survived the fiery crash which killed four others. Both were badly burned.

DJ Am wants $10 mil in damages for “medical bills, lost earnings and profits and other economic damages,” plus another $10 mil for” mental and physical pain and suffering” and other “non-economic losses.”

He’ll probably settle for less eventually, but both he and Barker lived through something so horrifying that most of us can’t even imagine what they felt. They certainly deserve some compensation.

I can’t think of anyone who’s had a rougher year than DJ AM and Travis Barker, who are still recovering from injuries sustained in a private plane crash that killed four others. But the boys are back,  deejaying together for the first time since the crash, tonight at L.A.’s historic Wiltern Theater. At $150, this should be one of the hottest tickets in town tonight.

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM, also known as TRSVJDAM, will perform together for the first time since both were injured in a plane crash in September. The pair are scheduled to headline the New Year’s Nation New Year’s Eve party the Lot in West Hollywood and their set will be streamed live over the Internet and to to other New Year’s Nation parties in 10 U.S. cities. Barker released this statement:

“I’m ready to get back on stage with AM and continue to rock the house,” Barker said in a statement. “I’m very excited to bring in the New Year in my hometown of L.A.”

Both guys certainly deserve a great 2009 after all they’ve been through this year.
