Grammy Awards This Sunday
Friday, February 8th, 2008

I almost forgot it’s the Grammy Awards this Sunday. With awards season being a little off this year due to the writers’ strike, I almost lost track of this one. The Grammys is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, so I’m sure they’ll come up with a fabulous show. Honestly, I don’t know anyone who’s watched the whole telecast of the Grammys in years. They got a little stale after a while. I was hoping Amy Winehouse would be in attendance to perform this year, but she wasn’t granted a US Visa. She’ll perform via satellite, though. She’s nominated for all the top four categories (including song, album and record of the year). Rihanna will also be at hand and performing with The Time. As sick as many people are with that song, I hope she sings Umbrella. That song will never die in my heart. Yeah, hush. If you’d like to tune in, the Grammy Awards will be live from the Staples Center and will be telecast on CBS this Sunday at 8pm. We can compare notes on Monday.
Grammy Nominations Are Out
Thursday, December 6th, 2007
Grammy nominations were announced today and Kanye West bagged the most, as he received eight nods. Other top nominees include Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Timbaland, and T-Pain. Amy Winehouse has been getting some bad press as of late because she’s dropped out of some scheduled shows in England, but her album Back To Black is amazing. Kanye’s also been in the news recently, unfortunately not for great reasons, so hopefully the nominations give him a little cheer. And Rihanna’s song “Umbrella”, which is so damn catchy, is nominated for Record of the Year. It’s going up against some tough competition, so we’ll see what happens. The Grammys will be televised live on February 10 at the Staples Center.
