On Monday, Madonna’s longtime PR rep Liz Rosenberg gave a statement to Associated Press that the singer would be paying ex-husband Ritchie a whopping divorce settlement of about $76 million to $92 million. Today the former couple have changed their tune and say that Rosenberg’s statement was inaccurate. Now a joint statement states their settlement details “will remain private.”
Isn’t it a little late for that? Nothing this couple has done has ever been “private.”

Guy Ritchie has more than just his freedom to celebrate this season. Madonna’s PR rep has confirmed that her ex will be receiving a settlement worth at least $76 million. That figure could rise to $92 million when the couple’s lavish English estate is added it to the former hubby’s take. Guy will no doubt be toasting his bounty with a few mugs of beer and some of the tasty fast food Madonna wouldn’t allow him to eat while they were married. Happy holidays indeed!

The divorce of superstars Madonna and Guy Ritchie have left many questions in the air. I feel like we’ve been hearing about it for so long yet, as is usual with most high-profile celebrities, they’ve denied it at every point. What we find out now is that a lot of what ignited the trouble was Guy’s refusal to accept his wife’s faith in Kabbalah. We’ve all known for a while now that she is a devoted believer whereas he just thinks its hogwash. Not to mention the fact that while her career is on top of the world, his is barely staying afloat. This, I’d imagine, would cause for some serious marital tension! Oh that and the fact that her net worth is estimated at about $500mil whereas Guy trails behind at $50mil. Definitely not chump change in the eyes of practically every American and Brit, but in the world of diamonds, champagne, and private jets, that leaves much room for mooching off the wifey. The Sun also reports of the couple’s attempt to deceive the public:
“She made a surprise appearance at the West End cinema, walking arm-in-arm with her husband and posing for photographs.
The appearance was seen as a move to end speculation that their marriage was in trouble.
Ritchie had tried to scotch the rumours of a split with a public show of support at his wife’s 50th birthday party in August. But it was all a sham.”
Sad it had to go down this way but I suppose when you have millions of dollars, various properties, and children at stake, things tend to get a bit dirty. Let’s hope it doesn’t take too heavy a toll on Madge because in the end we still want to hear her music and I’ll be damned if I can’t keep enjoying my Madonna!

Don’t Count ‘Em Out Yet

There’s been a lot of divorce talk lately in celeb-dom. First, there was the Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck deal, and of course there was the supposed Madonna and Guy Ritchie split. There was even a story last week about Madonna supposedly hiring Paul McCartney’s old divorce lawyer, Fiona Shackleton. Well, forget all that nonsense, according to Guy’s own mum, Lady Amber Leighton. She recently told the UK’s Daily Mail that there is no divorce talk going on with her son and daughter-in-law. “It is absolute rubbish, worse than that,” she told the Mail. “Guy will be furious at me talking to you but I feel I can’t just let these reports go unanswered as they make me so angry and they are hurtful intrusions into their private lives.” And she continued: “That is not a couple splitting up. I’ll say it one more time, they are not getting divorced; the speculation is TT – that’s total tosh.” Well, there you have it, and from a pretty credible source I might add. Like every other couple, I’m sure Guy and Madonna are just going through some pretty rough patches. Guy reportedly left Britain this morning to be with his wife and kids in NYC. Let’s hope the couple spend some quality time together and dispel the divorce rumors.
