It’s no secret Gwyneth Paltrow thinks she’s better than the rest of us, so it’s no surprise she doesn’t allow mere mortals in her presence.

Page Six reports the actress is hinting that one of her friends shape up. They report Gwennie has given celebrity chef Mario Batali a free membership to the overpriced gym that she and her fitness friend Tracy Anderson are opening in TriBeCa this summer. Or will if they get any members at $4,500 just for membership.

A source dished, “Mario is the only fat friend she has, and wants him to change.” Of course, her highness must only be seen in the company of the pretty people, right?

 Gwyneth Paltrow is back with another newsletter on her GOOP site, telling all us peons how to have a fabulous life like hers. Actually, although Gwennie’s prone to sounding a bit above it all and out of touch with everyday reality, this month’s installment is actually pretty practical.

We get Paltrow’s  recipes for a homey dinner of turkey meatballs, spaghetti, green peas and garlic bread—grub the rest of us might actually make for our families. Unlike last month’s bizarre “detox” recipes, these are simple, don’t have any exotic ingredients and sound pretty tasty.

So maybe Gwyneth Paltrow has a down-home side to her after all. But I’ll withhold opinion until I see what she gives us for Easter dinner. No designer hand-painted eggs, please.

Just in time to offer her advice to those of us who pigged out over the holidays, actress Gwyneth Paltrow shared her New Year’s cleansing regime in her GOOP newsletter. Her plan is to start the year with a diet-and-detox program that will cleanse the system by eating berries and shakes and other healthy organic stuff like that. She also includes yummy recipes for Broccoli and Arugula Soup, Cucumber, Lime and Basil Juice and Miso Soup with Watercress. Gwynnie also recommends:

“If your bowel movements get sluggish, you can accelerate things by drinking half a cup of castor oil or using a mild herbal laxative. Bowel elimination is paramount for correct detoxification.”

Just reading all that makes me want to order a pepperoni pizza and  a cold beer.

The NY Daily News reports that Gwyneth Paltrow’s marriage is in trouble—and she’s trying to save it. Paltrow and her husband, Chris Martin of the band Coldplay, are spending the holidays sequestered in their London home, attempting to iron out their problems. One of them seems to be Paltrow’s friendship with the newly-divorced Madonna. A source told the Daily News:

“Gwyneth has the Madonna bug…bad. It’s eerie. Gwyneth acts normally until Madonna comes around, and then Gwyn is all about Madonna, all the time. Madge has even introduced Gwyneth to her firends. Now instead of going to see Chris perform, she’d rather hang out with people like Alex Rodriguez and Ingrid Casares.”

Well, if the Paltrow/Martin marriage hits the rocks, Madonna will have a pal for double dates.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been seen more without hubby Chris Martin than with him lately, leading to rumors the pair has split. She has not joined Chris on tour with his band Coldplay and has instead been seen cavorting around Miami with pals. An insider told Page Six that Paltrow has become “good friends” with billionaire bachelor Jeff Soffer, who owns the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach. ”Gwyneth flew down privately at the behest of [Fontainebleau Resorts owner] Jeff Soffer.”

 While in Miami, Paltrow attended a Victoria’s Secret party and show, where she “remained closed off in a private section and hung out with Soffer and Madonna paramour Alex Rodriguez.” Soffer gave her a private tour of the hotel and took her out on his yacht, along with Kate Hudson.

Despite all the fun in Miami, Paltrow didn’t look like she was having a very good time. A witness reported ”She was very, very thin. She looked stressed out. And she certainly didn’t act like a happily married woman.”

In the May issue of Vogue magazine, Gwyneth Paltrow opens up about her battle with post-partum depression after giving birth to her second child, Moses. Gwyneth said the depression probably stemmed from her scaling back on pre-baby treatments like acupuncture. “I felt really out of my body,” Paltrow says after giving birth. “I felt really disconnected. I felt really down … I felt pessimistic.” I think it’s great that she opened up about her battle with post-partum, just as Brooke Shields did a few years ago. Gwyneth talking about it may help another woman dealing with post-partum feel like they’re not alone.

Super celeb couple Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are fine, Blythe Danner told People Magazine at a recent event. And if mama says they’re fine, then you better believe it. Blythe cleared up recent rumors that her daughter and Chris were headed for splits-ville. “They are together all time. The public just does not see them together. They couldn’t have a better marriage,” she told People. It is true that the couple is rarely photographed together, but it’s also well known that Chris is not much into photo ops and such. He is rarely with Gwyneth at red carpet events or movie premieres. So there you go, straight from the mom’s mouth – Gwyneth and Chris are fine.
