A paramedic has been charged with attempting to extort $25 million from John Travolta following the death of his son Jett in the Bahamas. The AP reports that Tarino Lightbourne, who was in the ambulance that carried Jett Travolta to the hospital following a seizure, has pleaded not guilty to attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort from the star. Other parties are still under suspicion in the case.

While details of the alleged extortion scheme have not been revealed, there have been rumors that there are photos of Jett Travolta taken in the ambulance and someone has tried to shake down the Travoltas with threats of making them public.

I hope the authorities get to the bottom of this. It’s reprehensible for someone whose job is supposed to be saving lives to use his position to try to make money off the misfortune of a grieving family.

Police in the Bahamas have detained two men in an alleged plot to extort money from actor John Travolta following the death of his son, Jett Travolta, earlier this month. The AP reports that an island lawmaker and a paramedic are being held. Ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne had been quoted in tabloids describing efforts to revive Jett, who suffered a seizure at their family vacation home on Grand Bahama. Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater is also being held.

If these two used  their positions to attempt to wring money from a grieving family, they’re total slime and deserve to be punished. 

Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, was memorialized Thursday.  A private memorial service  for about 100 relatives and close friends was held in a tent outside the Travolta home at Jumbolair Aviation Estates in Ocala, FL. The Ocala Star-Banner reports that James Gandolfini, Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood, Forest Whitaker, Lisa Marie Presley, Cal Ripken Jr. and Kirstie Alley were in attendance. Presiding over the service was a female minister of the Church of Scientology. Whitaker made this statement to the press:

“Our families have had a long loving friendship, and John and Kelly are amazing parents. We have watched each other’s children grow and cannot imagine the loss of Jett. He was a bright and beautiful young man, and we are honored to have known him.”

After the service, Travolta and Preston kissed the photo of Jett displayed behind the podium.

TMZ reports that the Travolta family will be holding a memorial for their late son Jett in Ocala, FL, on Thursday. The service is expected to be private. The teen’s body was cremated in the Bahamas last night and his ashes flown back to FL.

USmagazine.com reported last night that the body of Jett Travolta, the son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston who died January 2 from a seizure, was to be cremated in the Bahamas. A press conference was held Monday night by the owner of Grand Bahama’s Restview Memorial Mortuary and Crematorium, and a friend of the Travolta family.

John Travolta, Kelly Preston and daughter Ella Bleu flew back to Florida with the boy’s ashes later that night. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.

The autopsy of Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, has been completed and a death certificate issued. An official with a Bahamian funeral home has told AP that Jett Travolta’s death certificate states he died from a “seizure.” The official also stated that the body showed no sign of head trauma, which would seem to contradict the reports of police officials who said the young Travolta might have hit his head on a bathtub.

Jett Travolta’s body was taken to the Grand Bahama airport where it awaits its return to  in Ocala, Florida, for burial. Sadly for the family, the results of the autopsy are likely to cause even more speculation as to how the teen had been treated for his medical conditions.

The family’s attorney Michael Ossi has stated that the teen suffered a seizure at the Travolta vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island and died despite attempts to revive him. A police spokesperson has added that the boy hit his head on a bathtub Friday morning. Jett Travolta had been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which can cause seizures and  lead heart problems.

Yes, you can definitely teach old dogs new tricks and you can also teach them how to play with baby dolls. Seth Green is also part of the cast, so it must be a rambunctious little group! Robin’s been keeping busy since he announced a couple of months ago about his pending divorce. Besides Old Dogs, he is in talks to star in the political biopic The Prince of Providence. We’ve seen his acting chops in dramatic roles, so let’s hope his schedule permits his participation in the film. John Travolta is a jerk, according to Kevin May, my neighbor’s best friend. I, for one, have heard that John Travolta is one of the nicest celebrities around. He gives paps their pictures and goes about his way. Our photogs were on the set of his new movie, Old Dogs. He was filming away with Robin Williams and Seth Green (I’ll have their photos later). According to IMDB, Old Dogs is about two friends and business partners find their lives turned upside down when strange circumstances lead to them being placed in the care of 7-year-old twins. Hmm, sounds like a hoot. I for one like John doing the bad guy roles like Face/Off and Swordfish, but that’s just me. Anyway, check out more pics of John Travolta from the set below.

I’m starting to catch up on all the stuff the guys have gotten over the last couple days. Sorry I haven’t had a chance to post as much as I’d like to.
