21 Gets A Blackjack

Moviegoers wanted to watch folks beating Las Vegas, so they went in droves to make 21 the number one movie in the box office this weekend. The film earned an estimated $23 million. Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey star in the film. The film has received mixed reviews, but I guess that didn’t stop folks from checking it out. I didn’t check it out, but I’d definitely watch it on DVD. It’s based on a true story about a bunch of MIT students counting cards in Vegas. Sounds like a Friday night winner to me. The Dr. Seuss-inspired film Horton Hears a Who came in second. Ryan Phillippe’s new movie, Stop-Loss, came in eighth, which was a huge surprise to me. I thought there would be more fans clamoring to see that.
Kate At ‘21′ Movie Premiere

Here are a couple of pics of Ms. Kate Bosworth at the 21 movie premiere last night at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Sin City. Very fitting they hosted the premiere in Vegas, since the movie is about card counting. Kate was all smiles for the cameras and looked much healthier than I’ve seen her in a while. Her dress is definitely interesting - a bit of circus performer chic. Anyway, Kate plays Jill Taylor in the movie, one of the MIT students who learn how to count cards and win millions playing blackjack in Vegas. It’s based on a true story and those are always way more interesting. The movie comes out on March 28, so if you’re big on the gambling thing, or just a fan of Kate, then you should check the movie out.
