LC Is Emmy-bound
Thursday, August 7th, 2008So she might not ever win an Emmy, unless she ditches FIDM in lieu of acting school, but Lauren Conrad is determined to be involved with the Emmys. The Hills star got a pretty big break by garnering a chance to design a dress for the next Emmy telecast. Lauren has been commissioned to create a “couture red carpet gown” for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, the TV academy announced yesterday. The dress (or dresses) will be worn by the “trophy girls” who carry Emmy statuettes on-stage for presenters to hand to winners. Lauren, of course, is excited and already envisions the type of dress she wants to design. “I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist,” she said in a statement. Lauren’s own clothing line was recently nixed off the racks at the Kitson store here in Los Angeles and the reality star’s fashion credentials have been questioned numerous times. That’s why this particular project is so important for Lauren. The Emmy telecast still garners quite an audience and there will be folks who’ll tune in just to see what she designs (not to mention all the celebs who’ll be in attendance seeing her work). Better get to sketchin’, LC!
LC’s Not Tortured
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008Don’t believe the hype, y’all, Lauren Conrad is not tortured. Or at least that’s what she told CosmoGIRL recently (she’s their September issue cover girl). Even if you’ve never seen one minute of the popular MTV show, it’s widely known that LC pretty much cries on almost every episode of The Hills. Whether it’s her crying because she’s fighting with Heidi about Spencer or her tearing up when confronting Audrina about their living situation, the tears run amok. Still, Lauren is saying that viewers don’t really get to see all her sides. “The Hills is meant to be a dramatic show about relationships,” she stated. “It’s not about me being a designer. No one wants to see me working at the factory on my collection, or me and Lo having a dance party in our pajamas.” Well, some people might actually want to see the pajama dance party, but we get what you’re saying LC. We get it. Lauren Conrad is not a tortured soul, people. But she is kind of annoying.
Lauren’s Lackluster Line
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008Lauren Conrad, who last night went back on her word and refused to walk a charity fashion show (with her dog) for the Humane Society’s 9th annual Paws for Style event, is not having a good week. Besides getting bad press for said fashion show, her clothing line seems to be going for broke. Kitson, the celebrity-fave boutique in West Hollywood, has decided to drop Lauren’s fashion line. Kitson owner Frasier Ross said that initially the line was doing well, but he had a hard time getting Lauren to commit to doing any promotional work. “They need to realize it’s no different than selling your album, your TV shows, your movies,” Ross said. “You have to keep promoting it.” Well, it IS hard being in an unscripted reality show. I mean, imagine all the lines she doesn’t have to memorize. Who has time to promote a clothing line, right? Maybe our little Lauren should start taking marketing classes at FIDM.
LC And The Sunshine Band
Monday, July 7th, 2008So The HIlls will finally air the opener for season four next month, as they try to film everything fun (or dramatic) in the summer that the ladies experience. I’m sure there will be no shortage of drama and Lauren Conrad will be back for another season of…losing best friends? Our photogs caught up with the reality-TV star (and sometime fashion designer) shopping at Barney’s in Beverly Hills a couple of days ago. Lauren, always carrying her signature Chanel bag, took in a nice southern California summer to enjoy some wallet exercise. I wonder what they’ll have on season four that’s going to keep its audiences. As someone who actually watches the show, even I’m getting a little bored with the group and Heidi’s songs are not helping any. Will this be the last season for The Hills gang? Ah, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The Hills Don’t Like ‘The Hills’
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008It seems The Hills crew is pissing off some of their neighbors in the Hollywood Hills. Access Hollywood is reporting that residents of the neighborhood where Lauren, Lo and Audrina moved into last season are not too happy about their presence and the attention they are attracting. These neighbors are particularly annoyed with paparazzi presence and the MTV film crew taking up all their parking spaces. Neighborhood sources told Access Hollywood that “MTV has turned the residence into a commercial sound stage for the purpose of filming the show.” MTV, meanwhile, maintains that they are “in accordance with all required production permits, and is working with the city of Los Angeles to assist it with neighborhood concerns that have been raised.” Lauren, whose name the house is under, is also reportedly upset by the situation and has hired extra security outside her house. Neighbors are complaining, however, that the three ladies don’t even live in the house full-time and are only there for filming and/or paparazzi photo-ops. The complaints have also been taken to the City Council. How about moving everyone back to Orange County? They can hang out with the Real Housewives of O.C. or something. Yes, I think that would really work well for all of us L.A. folks.
