Paris Gets Sued
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008Everyone’s favorite hotel heiress (okay, at least Benji Madden’s) just got herself a new lawsuit to deal with. Florida-based Worldwide Entertainment Group sued Paris Hilton Tuesday for breach of contract, charging that she didn’t come through after being paid $1 million to star in and promote the 2006 comedy, National Lampoon’s Pledge This!. The lawsuit filed yesterday claimed that Paris owes $75,000 in damages for failing to provide “reasonable promotion and publicity” for the movie. The straight-to-DVD film, in which Hilton was also given executive producer credit, was released in December 2006. Paris and her reps have yet to release a response. I’m sure if Paris cleaned out one of her many designer bags, she can come up with the $75,000 plus change. Settle and move on, PH.
Vanessa Hudgens Gets Sued
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has a little lawsuit in her hands - in the tune of $5 million. A music producer is claiming the actress and her father have repeatedly violated a contract and failed to pay him his share of her earnings. Vanessa entered into an agreement with producer Johnny Vieira when she was still a minor. Vieira is claiming that Vanessa and her father sued to get out of the agreement, but they have failed to abide by the settlement terms. He claims the agreement called for him to equally share in advances, royalties and merchandising from Hudgens’ career. He is also suing Vanessa’s dad for defamation, claiming Greg Hudgens sent an email describing Vieira as a “predator”. Vanessa and her peeps have yet to release a response.
Hayden’s Dad Busted
Monday, August 11th, 2008Heroes star Hayden Panettiere’s dad, Alan, was arrested earlier this morning at their home in West Hollywood. People.com is reporting that he was taken in for felony domestic violence. He is currently in custody, with bail set at $50,000. Sargent Scott Wolf of the West Hollywood PD had this to say to the press regarding the situation: “There was a domestic argument between the mother and father. He got upset and struck the mother in the face one or two times on the left cheek which caused some bruising. From what I’m told, he hit her with a closed fist.” Alan was arrested and charged with a felony instead of a misdemeanor because of the visible injury on her face. Paramedics suggested that Lesley (Hayden’s mom) go to the hospital, but she refused. This is very disturbing and sad news. Let’s hope daddy Panettiere gets himself some much-needed help and counseling.
Post-Lawyer Brit Looks Happy
Monday, August 11th, 2008We have even more photos of that lawyer visit Britney Spears had a few days ago with her family. Brit, who was accompanied by Jamie and Lynne Spears, as well as her two sons, reportedly visited a lawyer’s office in Bel-Air to get advice on how she can get permission to allow her sons to leave out of state with her. Britney would like Sean Preston and Jayden James to meet their new cousin Maddie and she’ll need special permission to do so. Remember, Brit has obtained more time with her boys after her custody settlement a couple of weeks ago, but Kevin maintains sole custody of the kids. Hopefully Brit gets to take her kiddies to Lousiana and from the looks of these pictures, it looks like they had a great meeting at the attorney’s office. I have a few more photos of Brit and family after the jump, so check them out.
Snipes Must Pay Government Back
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008Wesley Snipes has been ordered to pay the government back for the cost of prosecuting him. Wesley is free on bond while his defense team appeals his conviction on three misdemeanor counts of willfully failing to file a federal tax return. If his conviction is upheld, he could face up to thirty-six months in prison. U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges has ordered Snipes to pay $217,363.75. The total prosecution costs include a fee of $193,716 for scanning, printing and numbering documents seized from the anti-tax organization that advised Snipes how to avoid his tax obligation. He also must repay the government more than $21,000 for witness fees, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Last month, Judge Hodges gave Wesley permission to travel to London and then to Bangkok in September to work on two films. From the sound of things, it looks like he’s going to need to work a lot to pay off his mounting legal fees.
