Madonna’s Rep: She’s Not Adopting

The Alex Rodriguez stories have quelled down, and so has her marriage-on-the-rocks headline grabbers, but Madonna’s still in the news. This time around, there’s talks that she and husband Guy Ritchie are in the final stages of adopting another Malawian orphan. It probably didn’t help that the Malawian Adoption Minister said this to Britain’s Sun newspaper: “Madonna’s representatives have been visiting the girl. The adoption is now advanced - all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities.” Well, Madge’s longtime rep, Liz Rosenberg, tells Us Magazine otherwise. “Madonna has not made an attempt to adopt this baby earlier this year or now,” Liz told the mag. So there you go, my little kumquats - Madge is not adopting herself another little one - for now. By the way, the Material Mom turns the big 5-0 on Saturday and starts her Sticky & Sweet Tour August 23. Good times.
Britney’s Elevator Ride

She won’t be riding in a gondola, a la Madge’s ‘Like A Virgin’, but she’ll be going up and down an elevator in the video montage Brit recently shot for Madonna’s upcoming tour. Here’s MSNBC’s description of what the video’s going to look like: “In what is being dubbed as a “short movie,” Spears reportedly enters an elevator disguised with a gray hoodie sweatshirt. As the elevator races up, Spears begins to pace back and forth, becoming more and more agitated. She eventually breaks out into an all-out frenzy. She then reportedly kicks and smacks the walls and scales the elevator, ripping off her hoodie, stares into the camera and says: “It’s Britney, b—h.” Can we say intense? It definitely sounds like something Madonna requested. Britney filmed her part on Wednesday and sources on set told E! News that she was very professional throughout. Good times.
A Little Snafu At Madonna Set

So Brit-Brit was supposed to shoot that video montage for Madonna’s upcoming tour this morning at a Hollywood sound stage, but the sets were not finished on time. Fire those suckers! Just kidding, they’re all in the union. So, the filming has been rescheduled for tomorrow. A “source close to Britney” told E! News that audiences will see a totally different Britney in the montage: “The video will be very deep. You’ve never seen Britney like this before. It will blow your mind.” Sounds good to me.
Britney And Madonna, Together Again?

Is Britney Spears going to be joining Madonna on tour? Well, according to Entertainment Tonight, they sure are. Brit recorded a video with Madonna this weekend (although some sources claim it will actually be recorded this Sunday) and the footage will be shown at the Material Girl’s “Sticky & Sweet” tour, kicking off August 23 in Cardiff, Wales. And, according to Transworld News, Madge actually wants to help Brit get back to her old form. A source said: “they are talking about Britney taking the stage on a few of the dates, too. It’s hoped that Madonna can help Britney get back to her old self.” I think it would be a great idea to get her in a couple of dates, but I don’t think touring this summer would be too wise, especially with her custody issues still coming up. We’ll just have to wait and see if this news is even true. Still, I know the thought of seeing Madonna and Brit together on tour is getting a bunch of folks excited.
More Madonna, Less Wife

Either this has to be the most calculated p.r. stunt ever, or the moons must have aligned for Madonna. She’ll be starting a tour soon and everyone’s talking about her. Granted, a lot of the conversation are probably not too positive. Take this Alex Rodriguez thing, for example. His wife, Cynthia, has now filed for divorce from the baseball superstar, and a lot of folks are pointing their fingers at the Material Mom as the cause. Cynthia’s lawyer even told People Magazine that although Madonna and Alex’s relationship was “an affair of the heart” and not “sexual infidelity”, his relationship with the singer was the last straw for the slugger’s wife. Ah, what a tangled web they’ve all weaved. Let’s be fair to Madonna, though, because it does sound like she’s becoming a scapegoat for a marriage that was already on the rocks (Alex has been accused of infidelity before). Still, Madge has had her share of controversies and all this news is just fanning the flames of her ticket sales. She’s been through the ringer and this controversy is not going to kill her (or her career). Trust. Good luck to Cynthia, though.
