Gwen Hopes Kingston’s Not A “Freak”

Gwen Stefani seems to balance motherhood and pop stardom admirably, but even she has challenges to face. In the June issue of Elle, the superstar supermom dishes about her life.

Gwen’s not fazed by her fame. “Obviously, I’m not anything more than I am. I’m just, like, totally normal. The fact that any of this has happened, that we’re sitting here at the Beverly Hills Hotel just gets me going, like, What?”

She puts her family first. “I wasn’t even married. Now I’m a wife and a mother of two. It’s a really different role. I always referred to No Doubt as a marriage, because that’s what it’s like to be together for so long and go through what we’ve been through. I can’t really have that relationship with them anymore. My priorities are always going to be my husband and my family now. That’s a huge, huge thing.”

Gwen admits motherhood can be difficult. “It’s one thing when you have an infant, but when you have this two-or three-year-old going, ‘Mommy, what’s the deal?’ it’s harder. Kingston’s whole thing is, ‘I need, I need.’ He is insane right now. We’re just hoping for the best and that he’s not going to turn out to be a freak, but we’ll see.”

Oh, I think he’ll be fine. He certainly has a pair of cool parents!

No Doubt Treats Fans

Fans of musical acts always seem to be complaining about not getting the most for their money when they buy concert tickets and CDs. Now the band No Doubt has a deal for fans who buy the highest-priced tix for their upcoming concert tour.

The AP reports that Gwen and the boys are rewarding those who purchase tickets in the $80 to $106 range online with the ability to download No Doubt’s entire seven albums digitally plus get a new song, “Stand and Deliver.”

This certainly sounds like an interesting idea. The fans get something extra for their money and the band gets more interest in their catalog. The music industry is struggling to survive and needs innovation so this sounds worth a try.
