Swayze Pens Memoir

Patrick Swayze has been fighting pancreatic cancer for over a year, but he refuses to give up and wait to die. Instead, he’s been recording his thoughts on the struggle.
E! News reports the actor’s memoir will be published this fall by Atria Books. The actor and his wife of over 30 years, Lisa Niemi, have been writing the book on their New Mexico ranch. According to the publisher, Swayze reveals “his brave fight against a diagnosis of stage-four pancreatic cancer, from which he has gleaned wisdom and has remained resolutely optimistic.”
Swayze stated, “With everything I’ve been fortunate enough to do in my life, and covering such a wide range of diverse subject matters, I’m told that my story has been inspirational to people. I will write from my heart about these experiences and, aside from the sheer pleasure of doing it, if people happen to garner inspiration from it, or incentive, or find a new way to love, it would be wonderful.”
Swayze’s life has certainly been interesting, so this should be one celebrity autobio worth reading.

Patrick Swayze Hospitalized

E! reports that cancer-stricken actor Patrick Swayze has been hospitalized. Swayze was scheduled to make an appearance at the Television Critics Association 2009 Winter Press Tour to promote his new A&E drama series “The Beast,” but instead the critics were given this announcement: “Patrick Swayze checked himself into the hospital this morning for observation after coming down with pneumonia.”
This comes only a few days after Swayze disclosed to Barbara Walters that he was “going through hell” and might have just two years to live.
Let’s hope Swayze can overcome this setback and find the strength to keep fighting.

Swayze Slams Health Rumors

Patrick Swayze lashes out at recent tabloid reports that he’s close to death in an interview with “People.” The actor, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, states:
“I’m very proud of the work I’ve done on my new series ‘The Beast,’ and I am happy to be back home for the holidays. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment to say you’re gonna do something and do it. The only thorn in my side being that many tabloids have been consistently reporting lies and false information about me and those close to me. And latest, they’re reporting that I’m on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family!
“Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. It’s a battle, and so far, I’ve been winning. I’m one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment.”
In the end, Swayze may not win this one, but he’s certainly putting up a fight.

Swayze Says Goodbye

Patrick Swayze’s brave fight against cancer may be coming to a sad end. The National Enquirer is reporting that the actor’s pancreatic cancer has spread and he may not have much time left. A souce told the Enquirer:
“Patrick recently got word that the cancer had spread to his liver and that is what his doctors said would begin the countdown to the end. Patrick knew it was coming because he was suffering increased weakness. At times, he was so weak that he could barely walk without feeling faint. Sometimes he feels out of breath and has to sit down.”
The source also reports that Swayze has told his wife Lisa and brother Donny that the end is near.
“Lisa phoned Donny in Los Angeles and told him he need to come to Chicago, where Patrick has been filming TV show The Beast. She was crying and scared Donny to death, Donny got the impression his brother was already on his deathbed because Lisa was saying Patrick wanted to say goodbye. She couldn’t stop crying.”
Swayze had seemed to be making a slow recovery from the illness but if the cancer has indeed spread to his liver, his chances are not good.

Our lovely Chi-town folks got more pics of miracle man Patrick Swayze filming A&E’s The Beast all over downtown Chicago yesterday. Witnesses said the actor was filming from sun up until sun down and didn’t look like he was slowing down at all. Patrick, who was diagnosed with advanced stages of pancreatic cancer in March, has been going through chemotherapy and has told the press that he’s reacting well to treatment. “I’m a miracle dude — I don’t know why,” he told photographers last week at LAX before he boarded a plane to Chicago. It’s great to see the Dirty Dancing star doing well and I know all of Hollywood is rooting for him.
