Jennie Wants Tori Back In The ‘Hood

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Jennie Garth is speaking out about how “bummed” she is that Tori Spelling is not going back to the old zip code with her and Shannen Doherty. Tori, as we reported earlier, declined to sign on to do the CW 90210 spin-off because of salary issues. Tori found out that she was offered about $10,000-$20,000 LESS per episode than both Shannen and Jennie, and said adios to any chance of her appearing on the upcoming show. Jennie talked to Entertainment Weekly recently about her disappointment that Tori won’t be appearing in the new show: “I’m really bummed because I love Tori and I was psyched Tori was going to be on the show,” she told the magazine. In regards to the salary disparity, Jennie had this to say: “I think she should definitely get paid as much as either of us is getting paid. Her father (Aaron Spelling) created the show,” Garth said. “It just seems wrong if that’s the case. I don’t know what really happened because I haven’t talked to her. I would like to talk to her.” Well, we’re sorry Donna Martin won’t be joining the new cast, too. It would’ve been great to see the trio back in action together.

Tori Not Going Back To 90210

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Sad news for all Donna Martin fans. Tori Spelling probably won’t be joining CW’s Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off, as once reported. In May the CW flirted with the idea of Tori returning, with a press release mentioning Donna’s return to her old stomping grounds: “Donna Martin will be the owner of one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills, a shopping spot that is frequented by the new cast of characters,” the release stated. Well, there will be no cool store owned by Donna Martin, because Tori’s not going to be in the show. And according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily, it’s all because of the payout. Tori was reportedly offered $10,000-$20,000 to reprise the Donna role, while fellow old-skool 90210′ers, Shannon Doherty and Jennie Garth, were reportedly offered $35,000-$50,000 per episode. Well, that doesn’t seem fair now, does it? Maybe all the press this is garnering will make the CW bosses think twice about increasing their offer to Tori, but we won’t hold our breath.

Weekend Recap

Monday, July 21st, 2008

What happened in celebrity news this weekend while you were at Target getting two bags of cheetos for $4? Quick, someone tell Brit! (I’m sorta’ kidding, of course.) Well, here’s a quick rundown:

Angelina Jolie finally took her twins home early Saturday morning. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline joined their daddy Brad and four siblings at Chateau Miraval, where the Jolie-Pitts are still staying in the south of France. The countdown for the first twin sightings continue, of course.

Dark Knight shattered all sorts of box office records during the weekend, raking in $155.4 million. Rounding out the top three: Merryl Streep’s Mamma Mia came in second, garnering $27.6, and Will Smith’s Hancock is still hanging strong, earning $14 million.

It’s official - Shannen Doherty’s joining CW’s Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off. Good times for all Brenda Walsh fans (including moi). Shannen’s Brenda is now a famous theater director and she will be invited back to West Beverly High to direct a musical. Yes, yes, we’ll play along with that plot line, just as long as Shannen’s back.

Mini-Me’s got everything settled (almost)! Verne Troyer has settled his sex tape lawsuit against Sugar DVD and TMZ. Verne signed agreements with Sugar DVD’s Kevin Blatt agreeing to get his approval before selling or distributing the tape. Now for the almost settled part…he still has his ex to contend with. He has a lawsuit against Ranae Shrider scheduled today, hoping to prevent her from releasing the tape. Good luck, Verne!

Jessica Simpson had her first country show on Saturday at the Country Thunder USA festival in Randall, Wisconsin, where she opened for Sara Evans. The fans’ reactions? Well, she got a mixture of boos and cheers. It was a lukewarm reception, to say the least, but at least boyfriend Tony Romo was in the audience cheering her on. She even dedicated a song to him. Yeah, hold your gagging noise for later.

Brenda’s Back(?)!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Could the dreams of millions and millions of ’80s (early ’90s) children be coming true? Could Brenda really be coming back to the Peach Pit? Say it’s so!!! Well, according to Entertainment Weekly, it IS so! Columnist Mike Ausiello has multiple sources claiming that Shannen Doherty has met with producers of the upcoming CW Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off to negotiate reprising her role as Brenda Walsh. Score! Shannen’s always been every hellraiser-in-training teen’s favorite actor on the show. She made it fun to hate her and we all loved her for the experience. So Shannen’s met with the producers and she’s very interested in the offer, but would like to know a couple of things. First, what’s the story line going to be like? Second, she reportedly wanted more money than the amount they presented on the table. Then there’s the issue with Shannen’s chronicled rift with her old (and possibly repeating) cast mates, namely Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling. Would it be a problem? EW asked Jennie, who said: “A lot of time has passed, and I’m a big girl. I’d have no problem with her coming on the show.” Well, let’s hope all of this have been taken into consideration and that Brenda Walsh comes back to 90210. Praise Jeebus!
