Price is Right For Hicks Tix

The producers of “American Idol” love to brag about their successes like Kelly Clarkson ad Carrie Underwood, but you don’t hear them saying much about their flops like Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee. Both were dropped from their labels and neither seems to have much going on these days.
In fact, things are so bad for Hicks that he can’t even give away tickets for his upcoming show on the Sunset Strip. This sad notice was posted on Goldstar.com:

The Roxy Theatre presents Taylor Hicks. Since winning Season 5 of the hit TV show American Idol, Hicks has become a platinum-selling recording artist, and appeaared in Broadway hit Grease. He’s touring in support of his new album The Distance.
This is known as “papering the house.” If an artist can’t sell enough tickets the day before a show, the venue starts giving them away in hope the act won’t play to an empty house. This is especially pathetic since the Roxy is a small club, not Dodger Stadium, and local bands sell it our all the time. When a bar band can fill more seats than an “American Idol” winner, you have to wonder how much that “gold ticket” is actually worth.
