Kim Tweets For Cash

For celebs, making money off your name gets easier all the time. Now Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie and husband Joel Madden and Audrina Patridge have signed endorsement deals for their Twitter accounts.
The Wrap reports L.A. based ad agency Ad.ly has set up a new viral marketing strategy that hooks up famous names with advertisers and pays them for the number of followers on Twitter who view their ads. Ad.ly publicist Kyle Hulcher explained, “It’s an easy way to make money. It’s a natural fit for celebrities because the more people who read you the more money you can make—and they tend to have the most followers.” Too bad we unknown folks can’t make money that easily.

Britney Gets Hacked – Again

At least this time nobody claimed she was dead. But early Thursday, someone hacked into the Twitter account of Britney Spears and left bizarre image and messages saying, “I give myself to Lucifer every day for it to arrive as quickly as possible. Glory to Satan!” and “I hope that the new world order will arrive as soon as possible! —Britney.”
Of course, anyone gullible enough to believe Brit left these really needs to get off mommy’s computer and go back to elementary school. The faux messages were removed a short time later and replaced by another stating, “Britney’s twitter account was just hacked. The situation has been resolved and we apologize for any offense the hacker’s messages caused.” I guess this means we can’t look forward to Britney doing a cover of Motley Crue’s “Shout at the Devil.”

Miley Signs Off Twitter

In a move that has shocked her fans, tween superstar Miley Cyrus has given up Twitter!
The Disney darling had been providing her two million followers with regular updates on her life, including her recent bout with strep throat. MTV reports that the grieving fans may have Miley’s BF du jour, her co-star in “The Last Song” Liam Hemsworth, to blame. Her final Tweet proclaimed, “FYI Liam doesn’t have a twttr & he wants ME 2 delete mine w/ gd reason.” The things we do for love!
But given how long Miley’s honeys have lasted in the past, I predict she’ll be kicking Liam to the curb as soon as the passion fades—and commiserating with fans via a brand new Twitter account.

Ashton Rules Twitter

Ashton Kutcher is bigger than the CNN network—at least on Twitter. This morning, the actor edged out the conglomerate to be the first with over a million followers on the microblogging Web site.
The AP reports Kutcher announced his triumph by Tweeting “Victory is ours!” I don’t see what this really proves except that a lot of people would rather follow what an actor is doing than keep up with the news of the world. Well, the news is pretty depressing lately.
